Fabulous animal
This was a fantastic story. It is awesome to know that people can train these animals to help children with the social skills they lack. There is so little liturature about FASD that it's refreshing to see something so positive.

A Must Read for All Children!
This beautiful story has so much heart in it that it sings to the reader and everyone within listening distance no matter how young or old. From the moment we meet Chancer at the belly of his Mama we know he is bound for an amazing and rewarding life of giving as he awaits his destiny to be trained as a service dog for a child who struggles with the effects of in utero alcohol exposure. The support he provides for his boy, Iyal, is unparalleled as he is trained to keep Iyal both safe and help when he becomes dysregulated, as with brain injury one often experiences. This book is an extraordinary tool to introduce the concept of those who are differently abled due to the exposure of alcohol in-utero (FASD), the amazing skills of the animals around us,the dedication of those that train those animals, and the awareness and empowerment that comes with being supported by a loving, caring animal like Chancer. 5 Stars!!!!!

A special book about a special boy and his dog
Nuzzle: Love Between a Boy and His Service Dog is an amazing book that both children and all dog-lovers will enjoy. The pictures are so beautiful and tender. The heart-warming story from Chancer's point of view is charming and draws the reader into a delightful story of growth, love and the support of a young boy with many challenges associated with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. This would be a great book to help children become aware of FASD and, hopefully become more compassionate of individuals with disabilities resulting from prenatal alcohol exposure. I would recommend this book to all parents/caregivers, especially for those raising children with FASD, to share with their children. The photographs and illustrations are exceptional. A must read!

Very refreshing story, well done, enjoyable by children and adults
This book is based on a the true story of a boy born with fetal alcohol related problems, but it is written in a very adorable way. The book is also available on CD and the character's voices are done to perfection. The story could have been dark and sad, but instead is written in a wonderful, easy to understand, uplifting, empowering way, especially for children. Personally I found it interesting to learn about the world of service dogs and the tremendous amount of effort that goes into preparing the dog, the child and the family. I have a whole new understanding, as do my three children. This is the second book that we have read by Winokur, and hopefully there will soon be a third.

read this book out loud!
I love this book! It strikes just the right note of sadness (at the start of Chancer's life)without being scary or morbid for young readers and absolute joy on Chancer's part when he finds his true home. The graphics work perfectly with the story and make certain words almost beg for a child to say them out loud and the photographs perfectly illustrate the storyline. This is a book with a message but one that goes down easy while still allowing the adult reader to use it as an entry point for a talk about disabilities and second chances. Read this book!

Love it! Sharing with all of our clients!
We love it!!! We are sharing it with everyone we can. The girls love listening to it at night and Abby is taking the book for her teacher to share with her class. It really helped her put a language to how she was feeling. It worked very much like Equine Therapy, she was able to project and connect based on the book being from Chancer view.
