Q: Does this have one or two stringers included?

Just got mine yesterday..2 side stringers included...seem as good as ones that were installed in 1978!

Q: what type of wood would you suggest making the treads out of?

Not sure...the wood treads from the original stairs were still good in my 40+ year old house. Sorry dont know.

Q: Can a shorter be added to a longer to get more steps?

Need to rethink on mounting to cinder block walls

I am replacing existing ones with new and find that the metal is a little thinner and appears to not have a good Galv coating on it like the ones I replaced.
