Great device for conveniently making distilled water
As my household used 2-3 gallons of distilled water weekly, I recently purchased this water distiller to make it on demand. We had previously thought that our water quality was quite good, so we were amazed at how much sediment was left in the heating chamber after distilling only one gallon! One great additional feature of this device - and the reason we selected this brand - is the inclusion of a glass liner insert for the water discharge nozzle, which keeps the distilled water from coming into contact with the stainless steel nozzle. Fortunately, the device is very to use as the directions sometimes lost a bit in translation. The only negative is that it does not seem possible to order a replacement for the glass carafe. Our first device arrived with a broken carafe, and rather than being able to request a replacement for just that part, I had to return the entire device for an entire replacement. If the carafe breaks in the future, it may be difficult or impossible to obtain a replacement for it. Otherwise, it's a great device for distilling water!

Died after 9mo
I loved this unit for the 1st nine months. All options functioned well and a huge bonus that the interior is stainless steel and easier to clean than plastic units. However the unit started to turn off after 10min (presumably due to overheating), then gradually got to a point of not running at all and I noticed the plug into the lower unit was melted. I replaced the cord hoping it was just a bad wire and again the same thing happen (ran for 10min, then shut off melting another cord). I contacted support but didn’t receive ANY response. I either got a bad unit or it’s poor quality, either way I expect appliances to last at least 1yr or a company to stand behind their product and replace it if broken. Now I’m left with a non-functioning unit and need to shell out another $200 and hope the next one will be better.Update: Like other reviewers who’ve had issues, it looks like I had the same problem of a blown fuse that overheats and melts the plug. You can see in the picture how the plastic is melted. Poor design.

Perfect distiller, while it lasts
Edit: a day or 2 after I wrote this review it shut itself off before it finished distilling. Now it shuts off as soon as the water boils. I’ve tried taking the lid apart, cleaning out the dust and changing the fuse in the plug. It won’t distill water anymore. I didn’t keep up on cleaning out the minerals, so it may have been my fault.I absolutely love this water distiller. I’ve had it for over a year now and have used it at least once a day, sometimes 2 or 3 times. I use the water for myself and my pets. It has a timer on it that allows it to shut off automatically when the times up. I set it for 3:33 and it fills my pitcher up to the top without completely drying out the distiller. I do go past the fill line without any problems. I love it so much and would 100% buy it again if it ever dies.

Works as Advertised; Looks Nice
**UPDATE:After replacing the carbon filter that came with the distiller with some generic ones also purchased on Amazon the taste of the water has improved tremendously. The distiller works as advertised and will suit my needs but…PROS:-Works as advertised. I have hard water and when it’s finished distilling I can see the minerals left behind so it definitely works.-Looks nice; love the stainless steel and digital face.-Everything unplugs from the back to make it easier to fill with water.-The lid/fan has a handle although I’ve not needed to use it.-I appreciate the auto shut off. As long as it takes to distill a gallon of water I appreciate being able to go to bed and leave it to run knowing it will auto shut off when finished.-I like that it distills roughly a gallon of water at a time and is able to get most of the water distilled without wasting any of it.-While not whisper quiet, it isn’t as loud as I would have thought it would be.CONS:-Grossly overpriced but unfortunately there isn’t a nice looking distiller available to compete with.-If you have awful tasting tap water like I do and you’re hoping this will improve the taste, you will be very disappointed. Thankfully I didn’t get this device for that purpose. The interesting thing is that the filter on my refrigerator does make my tap water tasty but this distiller does not when distilling is supposed to be superior. This also has a carbon filter that didn’t improve the taste thereby not really serving a purpose that I can see.-Some assembly required. You have to affix the handle on the glass carafe yourself via metal rings that go around the body of it. It’s very flimsy feeling for how heavy this carafe gets when full. The screws are too long and the nut to tighten is small. If you’re a man with large hands or someone with arthritis this will be difficult for you. You cannot tighten with a socket because the screw is too long so you have to just do the best you can. This really should have been a wingnut and/or a shorter screw.-The spout for the glass carafe is too small for how big this is. You can hardly pour it without spilling.-Why does the glass carafe have a blue lid and not black or clear?? It doesn’t go with the stainless steel, black color scheme and actually looks out of place. The only thing blue is the color behind the digital face.FYI:-It will fit under a cabinet but the fan at the top blows out hot air and the body gets hot so I’m not sure you’d want to put it there.-The lid sucks in air to cool on the sides so be mindful if you have an environment with hair and/or dust in the air.-The spout detaches to put the carbon filter in it but it’s just loosely held in place. Make sure it’s as secure as it can be before distilling. I had mine pop off mid distill; thankfully I was nearby and heard it before water could really go everywhere.Overall I’m happy with the purchase.
