I was shocked at the size of this perch, I ordered a Medium as that was the size recommended for Cockatiels. I gasped when I opened the package! I called a bird expert friend and she told me it was ok for my bird. It took a day or two for Topaz to decide if she liked it or not, but she is now use to it and uses it a good bit. If I had it to do over I would still get the size smaller this one is a 1 inch diameter. The way the grit is on the perch, only her nails touch the grit and her tender little feet touch the smooth surface. It was packed well, arrived on time and in excellent condition, and my bird is happy.... what more can you ask for!

Love the perch but unable to use it on horizontal bars on my bird cage. Can only be attach to vertical bars. Should have stated that in the description.

The Medium states that it's 10" in length, yet when it came I immediately noticed it was bigger and measured it. It's actually a full 12" from the base to the end of the perch. Before ordering this, I specifically measured inside my conure's cage where I wanted to place this perch and 10" was perfect. Now it won't fit because it's 2" larger! Boo.It IS a nice perch and I normally would just have exchanged it for the Small size. However, as others have stated, this will ONLY place correctly along horizontal cage wires. You can place it along vertical wires if you really wanted to, but then the perch isn't going to be in the position to be usable for the bird, so why would you? Very disappointed as I was exited to give this to my little buddy and sending it back.

I ordered the XL perch for my Scarlet Macaw. Her nails grow crazy fast so we try to keep a perch for her that has the rough texture. Well, this DOES have two stripes of the pumice glued on, but it doesn't look like it will be very useful as the stripes are not very hefty. It also doesn't look like a perch. It is absolutely functional and IS A PERCH, but it looks more like an adult "toy" in bright teal lol. Maybe for a much smaller bird this would be perfect, but for my girl it is nothing more than an interesting looking conversation piece.

I don’t often write reviews but I was pleased as punch to see my green cheek conure start using this perch almost immediately. It didn’t take him long to start smoothing his beak on it either. It’s nice to see him interacting with this as it is intended to be used because I’ll admit my bird is spoiled and has many other options to choose from. Our 26 year old African Grey (Socrates) is very picky about everything from her food to her toys. Most of the time when you add something new for variety she will completely ignore it. Or if you are an extremely persistent owner and place it in a corner, she may try it out six months after you put whatever it is in her cage.It only took her two days to try out this new perch. We keep five different perches in her cage at different levels so that she can change her view at will. When one perch is worn down we try to find another one that is different (variety is the spice of life) to possibly make her curious. This one now appears to be her favorite.As a side note, we named her Socrates because we were told when we bought her that she was a male. However males don't lay eggs! We kept her name because her vocabulary is so strong and we didn't want to confuse her with any gender-bending nonsense.

My severe likes these perches. I usually get her the medium in purple which seems to be perfect for her size. She has the option to use these as a perch to hang out on if she wants but I try to place them as steps/ a shortcut to get to her toys on top of her cage and to get to her stand where she eats. This way she she’s using them daily and her nails stay trim. I’m a little concerned about her spending to much time on them just because although this is advertised as a “pumice perch” it’s actually just hollow plastic with some sand or pumice lightly coating sides. I’ve asked the seller twice what kind of plastic this is, where it’s made and if this is free of toxins and get no reply. I’m also an overly cautious parrot mama and question everything when it comes to my feather baby. The other down side is the attached plastic piece that connects this perch to a cage. You don’t have the option of removing it to customize or switching to smaller or larger washers to accommodate different sized bars on your cage. Example- I originally purchased this for her ladder but the spacing between the bars are too wide so it can’t be used for that. With that being said, I’m happy to find something in purple and suitable for a female parrot that actually works to file her nails. She walks around on these quite a bit and I started seeing a difference after buying the 3rd perch. I don’t have to take her to get her nails trimmed as often which is great for her and I both!

My parakeets like this perch to rub their beaks on and to help keep their claws in check. I like that it has a smooth surface to keep their feet from blistering if they decide to nap on it. It's easy to clean and attach to the cage (my cage has vertical barring.)

The perch is actual super cool! It’s great that it offers feet safety meaning the « sand paper » doesn’t do the whole thing! And it actually does work on horizontal bars aslong as your bars a wide enough. Overall great product... but... and this is going to sound weird but it looks like an adult toy if you know what I mean- I had a few of my relatives ask questions... abut nevertheless just poor design but great quality and works great!

Is a good size for a conure...much larger than I thought and was worried at first but it works great and is good quality

Our Galah is hardly ever off this Perch, he loves it! Trims his beak regularly and happily. Great Product and highly recommend
