THOR AND THE AMAZON WOMEN

This is not the fault of the seller but buyer beware that despite the package description there is no English sound track nor English subtitles. However, the quality of this bluray is great. I have never seen a peplum film look so nice. This deserves 5 stars for its image quality. I will still keep and enjoy this bluray but if you purchase this you'd better start brushing up on your Italian.

Great transfer, but be aware there is no English audio track. The bluray does in fact say it has it on the physical cover also... but it is incorrect.

The amazon women in this film wear unflattering outfits. They wear big hats that cover the entire head (no hair visible) except the face. From the back, you don't know whether they are men or women. Sure, you can say this is realistic, but this is a phantasy anyway, why not make it as enjoyable as possible?There are also way too many scenes of one woman battling another in the arena to the death.The film is about how Thor and his friends organize an uprising against an evil queen. It is not a battle of the sexes. Men and women fight against other men and women.A much better movie of this kind is "Kilma, Queen of the Amazons". Here, the amazons wear skimpy, sexy outfits of fur and leather (no hats) and ride bareback on horses at full gallop, swinging spears and swords. Plus they are gorgeous, 18 to 25 years old.

This was an okay movie. It seemed to be more of a movie by it's cover but it wasn't all that great!

The publisher description of "Thor and the Amazon Women" as "perhaps the best bad sword and sandal movie ever made" is no lie, for once! It is hilarious! It's about an evil Amazon queen whose female warriors have been kicking ass all over the neighborhood, dressed in Smurf hats and ready to fight. Women who don't care for the new regime wind up as gladiatrices, forced to fight in the Irregular Polygons of Doom for the amusement of the Amazons. Thor ... OK, originally he was named Tarzan, then the Burroughs estate got on their case, so they renamed him Taur, then for reasons nobody understands they called him Thor, even though there's no Norse mythology here at all ... is the strong man who might bring the Amazon empire down. The movie is replete with silliness ... at one point, Thor is hit on the head with a poisoned bolo, and his faithful friend sucks the poison out ... of his leg. Theres a Spinning Wheel of Spiky Things, a Scary Gantry of Danger, lots of bondage and weird John Norman-esque rants against women ruling in government. I wish the Misties had gotten their hands on this one, it would have been INCREDIBLE! As it is, it's one hell of a lot of fun.
