I found this item when I was looking for a cover for my Hobonichi Cousin, which is a A5 full size planner. Although I could tell this item would likely not fit it (the refill is an A5 slim), I was enchanted by the appearance, and figured I could always use another journal. (Punch line for those hoping this will fit a Cousin or other full A5 journal: it won't, because it is not meant to do so). I was disappointed to find that Amazon had sent me a damaged item, but the seller took care of it immediately when I emailed. Proper service always wins me over, so even if the product falls short, I would not fail to acknowledge the seller.This product, however, is lovely. The cover is faux leather, but feels lush and soft to the touch. The flap along the open edge of the notebook holds a pen loop, so it protects both pen and pages when packed in a bag. Bending back the flap allows it to sit flat when open, as does the cover and refill. The inside front and back covers have a small pocket to hold cards, stencils, or similar. The design is delicate and embossed into the surface, so it won't be peeling off over time. The color I chose (Aqua blue) is just delightful, a warm turquoise beautifully contrasted by the dark brown faux leather ties along the spine, one of which wraps around the cover to hold it shut. The medals on the ties are a kind of antique bronze color, depicting a tree and a bird that looks like a phoenix or dove to me.The refill has a slightly flexible textured paper cover in light blue. It has soft pleasantly ivory paper with 6mm spacing between the lines, discreet page numbers in the lower outside corners, three different colored ribbons, and an name/email page and three-page contents section at the front of the book. The last 15 pages or so are perforated for easy removal. If the seller made a 5mm dot grid refill, this journal would be a serious competitor to Leuchtturm1917 and other bullet journal favorites. As the picture shows, I tested the fountains pens that I have inked at the moment (yes, I have a thing for Pilots), and all did quite well, with no feathering, light ghosting, and some ink bleed-through only with the Nemosine stub nib inked with very wet de Atramentis ink, and a smidgen with the Pilot Falcon, which is a slightly flexy F nib. Even my M nib Pelikan, which lays down a decidedly wet line, behaved well on this paper. Dry times were all good.Although my refill was damaged, due to the seller's responsiveness and its overall quality and features, I will not hesitate to replace it with another of their refills. The cover could also house any A5 slim journal (such as a Moleskine large and the like). And if they ever made a cover to house a full A5 size notebook, such as a Hobonichi Cousin (W: 148 x H: 210 x T: 17 mm / W: 5.8" x H: 8.3" x T: 0.7"), I would snap it up in a heartbeat.Highly recommend this seller and product, without reservation.

This just came today and really like it. Perfect for what I bought it for - a writer's journal. A writing course I'm taking on setting and description recommended that I keep a writer's journal for writing down description or pieces of overheard conversation and the like to practice the craft and maybe even use in my own writing. I wanted something that would fit in my purse that I could carry with me . I love the fact that I can get either blank or lined paper - I love the paper, period. I got the blank so that I could also do some sketches.This is the same size as my 7-inch Kindle Fire, which makes it perfect and the color actually matches my purse. The material is stiff and will probably be so until it's well run in but it doesn't bother me. The whole point of the loose leaf version is so the paper can be taken in or out as needed. I have no trouble writing in it with the rings. Mine does have the slots in the flap. Not sure what those are supposed to be for. The picture does show the embossing in the lower corner with the company name but mine did not have that, which is fine. I do prefer it that way. It did make it look like the journal belonged to someone named Valery. Might have been nice to have my own name embossed there but not all that important to me.If you're looking for a convenient journal at a decent price, I recommend this one. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

I researched leather journal covers pretty thoroughly before ordering this one, and I was sure it was labeled leather. When I got it I could see it was imitation leather - very stiff material that appears to be a leather grained plastic-like surface. Don't get me wrong, the blue color I ordered is exactly the same beautiful color as in the photo. The construction appears to be durable, stitched with white thread around the edges and real leather strapping to decorate the spine and acts as a closure for the book. It has small storage pockets front an back and a pen loop to store a pen or pencil. There are pockets in the front and back to hold replaceable journal books inside. The one that comes from Valery fits perfectly but you can buy $1 store replacements with stiff cardboard covers and cut them shorter to fit for a lot cheaper price. The decoration on the front is engraved in - very elegantly done. My only disappointment is that it wasn't real leather that wasn't so stiff.

Love the cover of this journal. It is not only durable but I love the gold tree and the closers are unique. Also being able to get refills is great (I do a lot of writing)This journal would make a wonderful gift!!

The media could not be loaded.  A perfect addition. The bounding is beautiful, made with a durable material. The case is beautifully colored and engraved with a swaying tree. Inside, there's a pocket to gently tuck pages away, a place to store your pen or pencil, and lined pages to organize your thoughts.

I purchased this journal for my granddaughter that is in college. She is taking up journalism and writes a lot. She was very pleased with the cover on it. It most defiantly makes a beautiful gift for someone or fact of the matter it is nice to own for yourself.

So beautiful that instead of gifting it I kept it for myself and I am buying another one to give to my daughter. A tiny bit expensive but the quality makes up for it!

Made a wonderful gift as it comes with its own box. When you fill the journal up you can even get a new journal and start again because the leather slip comes off.

No quería un cuaderno de anillas.Buscaba uno en el que poner un cuaderno, que pudiera cambiar en cada viaje.El cuaderno que viene tiene muchas páginas, pero se puede cambiar por otro más pequeño para reducir peso.¡Me ha encantado!!!

Ich habe dieses Produkt als Weihnachtsgeschenk für eine Freundin bestellt. Es kam sehr gut an. Die Verpackung hat sehr schön ausgesehen und Notizbuch/der Umschlag waren sehr schön gearbeitet und haben mir auch sehr gut gefallen. Auch sehr positiv, man kann einfach den Umschlag weiterverwenden, wenn das Notizbuch voll ist.
