Vosges Haut Matcha Green Tea Super Dark Chocolate Bar, 3 Ounce (Pack of 12)

This has GOT to be the best chocolate on the planet! The combination of matcha, spirulina and cacao nibs all in a bar of dark chocolate is just superb- even if you don't care for matcha or spirulina otherwise. For me personally, this is such a decadent treat, that one bar lasts me a good while, as I usually only eat one square at a time. We have been buying this by the bar for a few years now, which is super pricey, but this time decided to buy them in bulk and do no regret it!

My husband put one of these in my stocking for Christmas. I waited almost a month to try it because it just didn't look that appealing. It was so good I ordered a dozen bars and am ready to order another dozen. One of the best dark chocolate bars I've ever eaten, I eat at least one square every day.

The last order I received was severely heat damaged. I will not order this again and I do not recommend this product. Photo of heat damage attached.

This particular dark chocolate is aimed at the health food crowd, and is slightly bitter, getting close to unsweetened baking chocolate, and though it contains matcha tea powder, there is no green color, so the amount of matcha is minimal. It also contains spirulina powder. Spirulina is a blue-green algae form of protein, but it can easily become contaminated with microcystins that can cause intestinal problems and liver cancer. Spirulina may also contain lead, mercury and arsenic, so it might be a better idea to get your protein from other sources, like animal (meat) and plant (beans). Dark chocolate AND fiber. Great combination. Granted, it is very expensive; so I won't be scarfing down a whole bar daily, but it's gratifying to have some nutrition along with those antioxidents.
