Decent for the money
It's a great sounding and playing instrument for the money. As a professional musician with a house full of string playing children and a former music educator, I'd recommend this for anyone wanting to get their feet wet with cello. The fit and finish aren't the best, but it does the job. My wife and I simply wanted to be able to play along with our violin and viola players at home. It looks decent, and sounds great for what we do with it. I'd recommend updating the strings and getting a better bow to make it even better. Great for a beginner.

Garbage - Can't hold a tune
Look, I realize when buying something this cheap that its far from the best product. However, I do expect a product to at least function. I'm a beginner. When I got the cello I wanted to make sure it was set up properly, so I went to a local luthier (starting price for his cellos ; $12,000). When I picked it up, the guy took me aside and nicely told me basically that it's a piece of garbage - I suspect because he didn't want to be responsible for any immediate shortcomings. I knew that, but I quickly learned what he was talking about. The instrument couldn't hold a tune. With a considerable amount of elbow grease to force the pegs through their holes, even using "peg dope," which is a lubricant, I could rarely get the strings to hold tension. More often than not, I was able to bring the strings to their proper tension only to have the tension immediately lose itself. If I was able to get it to hold a tune (rarely), it took about 15 minutes. When I was able to do so, it would be only a matter of moments until the bridge shot out from the instrument on to the floor.Spend the extra $200-300 to buy another cello. The night before my next garbage pickup, I look forward to smashing it to pieces upon the ground and placing the remains in a garbage bag.

Great quality for the price
We purchased this for our 14 year old son. This was an excellent purchase for beginners. High quality for the price and it comes with everything you need to start playing the cello.

Love it.
This is a gorgeous cello for anyone. It plays beautifully. I for one am a musican an the number one thing that I saw were shipping problems. It’s beautifully varnished. It’s absolutely easy to set up. I love it. I guess my only complain would be the rosin does not grab well but I play the violin so I have an abundance of rosin. You can definitely do this in a concert.

Cello for beginner?
It is a gorgeous cello for its money’s worth. I have never played the cello before so I was worried about ordering online. Only issues: I had to assemble the bridge by myself and since I was a beginner it was hard and the knobs are wooden and circular so you really have to press them into place when tuning or they won’t stay. Beautiful cello overall. Sound could be a little better but for $160 well worth it for a beginner

Junk
Don’t waste your money. Spent so much time trying to set it up, had to buy a new string, bridge not correct, tuning pegs kept slipping, included rosin was crap. Tried to ship back and was going to be charged more than I paid so now I’m stuck. I will never buy from a third party seller on Amazon again.

A great cello to work on your craft.
The product and price is great. I got one for my daughter and the string was messed up I reached out to the sell and he responded in a matter of minutes. I took pictures like he asked and sent them. This went on for a few days. For him to refund me all my money and also let my daughter keep the instrument. He is on of the best people I ever felt with trying to get a refund he wasn't rude and didn't get smart or nothing. Was very respectful and pleasant through out the who thing kept intouch to let me know he sent the refund and it should be their soon.. I would recommend this cello to family and friends. A great tool to learn on and even practice to make your craft perfect. Thanks again for your service it was greatly appreciated..

Friendly for Adult Learners too!!!!
Do not be discouraged if on the first day you get it it is not exactly perfect or even playable. The pegs on my Cello kept coming out of place, making tuning very difficult. I had to do it at least six different times for it to finally stay, however I'm noticing that the pegs still come out a day later, certainly not as much because I have my strings tuned and the cello had time to settle overnight ( I tuned everything up a tad so the strings would get used to the tension.) This is my absolute first cello and so far other than that it has been good. It's Day 2 for me and it is playable. The craftsmanship on this is not very good but that is to be expected for the price (I.e. some parts are in consistently painted and also some places where the cello was sanded looks like they just painted over the dust) but whateve...its fine! The black is very beautiful it has bits of sparkles which I absolutely love! I had to assemble the bridge as well which was a little difficult but for starting the cello I think this is a good buy, Especially spending under $200 for everything it comes with! Just in case you should probably order some extra strings and rosin as backups. :)
