A must have for all parents of young children!
•I have personally found these locks available from different manufacturers/companies at a variety of prices. They're all the same, as far as I can tell. At the time of my purchase from this seller, this was the best deal I could find.•Put all of the locks as close to the handle or knob as possible.Safety is my number one concern when it comes to raising young children. I currently have two toddlers (four total children) and one very stubborn husband whose mom (who also had four kids) didn't need to child proof anything, so why should I? What?!?! One of my husbands arguments against child proofing the cabinets was that he didn't want to put any holes in the cabinets. We just got our kitchen remodeled with all new, real wood cabinets so honestly, I kind of agreed, but still, we needed to do something! When I first came across these locks, which are sold by several different companies but as far as I can tell are the exact same thing (I have purchased a couple of different brands), I was a bit skeptical. These magnets are attached by tape, won't damage my cabinets, and will withstand the strength of my very determined two year old? AND my oblivious teenagers? I was desperate, so I gave them a try.The installation was a bit too intimidating for me as the two pieces need to be precisely positioned in order to work properly, so I patiently waited for my husband to get around to installing them. The tape needs to set for 24 hours according to the package instructions of some brands, but I didn't find that to be the case. We actually put off installing the locks several times because we were too tired by the time the kids went to bed, thinking they could set overnight. We don't actually need to do that but instead we could've applied the magnets and left them in the unlocked position. My husband found it relatively easy to do the installation, but if we needed to do it again, we would have put all of the locks as close to the handle or knob as possible. I sometimes find it difficult to open the drawer or cabinet while holding my baby in one arm. After five months of use since our first purchase (from another manufacturer), the tape is still firmly attached to MOST cabinets and drawers. It wasn't the toddlers or even the teenagers who were able to rip off the lock, but our neighbor/house sitter and my hard headed father in law. Of course, aren't most baby proofing devices also adult proof? They were forced open VERY forcefully, nowhere near the ability of any child or adult that knows how to properly use this device.I have not yet tried to remove the locks, but according to the directions, the glue from the tape will easily release when heated with a hair dryer.I am overwhelmingly happy with this product however, if I could make one change/update, I would love to see it attached to a cord (a wristlet similar to the Nintendo Wii remote?). Even if I wasn't concerned about damage to my cabinets, these locks would be a great choice in child safety.

Cool idea, but just didn't end up working for us
Ok, I thought these would be genius. Pretty neat idea with a slick design. Fairly easy to install but does take a little bit of time to make sure everything is lined up correctly. Looks great and works as intended. However, when it comes down to it, we just got sick of having to grab the magnet every time we wanted to open a door. They would inevitably get misplaced, even if we never took it out of the room, and despite my best efforts to put the mechanism in the same spot on every door (a must!!), it still took a second or two to engage it and open the door. Especially if you wanted to open the door one handed because you were holding something in the other. Doesn't seem like a lot, but we really did end up getting sick of them.We recently moved and decided to just get the good ol' fashioned ones for our new place where there is a little arm with a hook that you press down. Do we still dream of the day that we can open and close cabinets whenever and however we want? Yes, but at least now we can do things one handed and not have to fumble with an extra piece.

Nice product - but cumbersome?
Nice idea and well executed product. Very secure. My issue is that, in a large kitchen with many cabinets, having to find the little magnet "key" every time you need a pot, pan, or spoon, is VERY annoying. We have all 4 keys spread around the place and it still drives me nuts when I'm cooking. Also - for "shorter" drawers these things have to be put off-center and require some force to open/close - this could be unique to our drawer design. IMPORTANT TIP: Install these IN THE SAME PLACE on every door/drawer so you remember how to open them! I recommend a corner or the CENTER if possible. I didn't do this on a few and my wife is filing for divorce over it.

The installation on these is more guesswork than anything else ...
The installation on these is more guesswork than anything else. I didn't properly place two of the locks but I was able to pull them off and replace the adhesive with 3M double-stick tape. If you do try to take them off they will most definitely take some of the finish with them; make sure they're somewhere where you can either leave them or where they're not an eyesore. Also, most of my cabinets didn't have a "lip" large enough so I had to install them in the bottom of the cabinet where they had a larger surface area to attach to. I wasn't able to use these for any of my drawers. Out of the 8 locks 2 of them won't stay in the unlocked position. This isn't a big deal to me since I don't plan on leaving them unlocked. My daughter has yet to get any of these cabinets open and we're pushing a year and half old.

Working great so far!
We have had these in use for abou two months with our 10 and 11 month old grandsons that I babysit. So far, so good. They are holding up against one of the little guys who is pretty agressive and strong. The only negative is that they did not work on our drawers purely do to there not being enough space to mount them. Also the adhesive looses it grip if you try to remove one and move it. So, just be sure where you want to place them before sticking them. I love that we did not have to drill holes in the cabinets and that we can disable the locks when the grandsons are not here. I would purchase them again.

Would buy again.
Bought these over 2 years ago and they are still holding up. I had to take them off of where we initially installed them. They left some glue residue which was to be expected.I am in the process of installing them again. I bought some 3m double sided tape. I had to of course clean off all the residue to get the tape to stick. The magnets work through about 3/4 inch wood. You should be careful about items stopping the locking mechanism from releasing on the inside. This happened, but I just pulled until one of the adhesives gave. This did not affect the integrity of the lock. I had to do the same thing again and it was just as difficult the first time. A child could not do this FYI.
