The Ursack MAJOR XL (IGBC cert. no. 3738) is the larger version of our classic Major (formerly S29.3 AllWhite). The Major XL holds about 50% more food than its smaller sibling and weighs 8.8 ounces. Otherwise it is identical, and it is, except for color, identical to the AllWhite Major XL. The Major XL is made of ultra high-performance UHMWP fabric and is designed to prevent bears from getting your food in their territory. It comes with an integrated six foot, 2,500 pound tensile strength cord. It is about 24 inches in circumference (<8″ dia.), 18.5 inches tall and holds about 925 cubic inches (15 Liters). The Major XL does not come with an odor barrier bag (OPSak) or an aluminum liner–but can be purchased seperately.

Good size, very tough. Clearly rodent proof.
I'm looking forward to trying my new food bag very soon. I spend a lot of time in the high country of Colorado, so this kind of bag is necessary for food protection. I can get 7 days of food for me in this bag, along with my cooking utensils, which keeps them conveniently stored in my backpack. I typically hike with a big Labrador so I'm not concerned about bears as much as the smaller critters he doesn't even notice, like rodents. I really do not need a bunch of rodent-contaminated food a few days away from the trailhead; and with this bag I won't have this particular "learning experience."

Great product
This bag is super light for backpacking and easy to hang. The only downside us that a few parks still require the canister. The site for Ursack has a list of parks were iy can be used, so highly suggest that you check it will be ok to bring this.

Easy to use
Not been tested yet but it was easy to use and a good size for two people sharing for a 3 night backpack in grizzly country.

Very solid alternative to a canister
This product is tough as nails! A bear is highly unlikely to get into this bag if it's hung properly. It's lighter and more flexible than a canister as well as easier to pack.Downsides:1. Food can certainly still be crushed by wildlife, though they probably won't get the product to fail2. It's not rodent-proof, though it's rodent "resistant"3. It's not legal in some parks where hard canisters are required4. Not waterproof (your food will still get wet)Upsides:1. Lighter than most canisters2. Easier to pack3. Easier to deploy than a regular bear bag4. Legal in most national parks5. Less expensive than a canister6. Large capacityOverall, I think this is a great alternative for the money.

It works
I am not sure about bears, but it definitely works against rodents. I had all my food in it and set it by my tent. I could hear rodents trying to get into it and they couldn’t. I think it would work better if you put a smell proof liner in it, then the rodents wouldn’t even know it was there

Best bear product available.
Much much better than a bear canister. Only 8 ounces is 6 times lighter. The xl is the better size for real backpacking. You don’t need the almighty if you do a bear hang with this bag. Those together work.

Incorrectly labeled
Description states “zipper closer” which is why I purchased…it does not have a zipper closure.
