ABUSbicycle lock holder USH 540 - for transporting the Granit XPlus 540 U-lock on the bicycle frame, black

Broke my previous mount for my Abus Granit X Plus 540 and this worked perfectly! Ideal!

Well, it's working the way it should, handy and good quality

Bought these to fit Abus Granit D-lock on MTB frame. Straightforward to fit and stows the lock neatly out of the way (we found mounting it on the seat post downtube with the lock facing forward was the optimum solution). Once installed it's a very quick job to remove and replace the lock (using the key). Expensive for what it is, but then it's a lot more expensive to have to replace the bike. With this in place, there's no excuse for not taking the D-lock. Having had two bikes stolen just this year, excuses are something we can do without!

I'm really surprised at Abus. Supposedly one of the best manufacturers of bike locking systems.Their ability to get this mount system so wrong astounds me.They include instructions which show their lock being mounted on the right hand side of the bike on the seat tube.They show the tube bracket fastened to the seat tube and the lock bracket being fitted to this by sliding over the tube bracket from above. This is quite simply impossible to achieve due to the stops moulded into both parts.The lock bracket can only be inserted into the tube bracket from below in this mode and so is quite free to slide down off the lock bracket. See the snippet I have uploaded from the manufacturer's instructions. Once the heavy lock is placed in the lock bracket, the only thing keeping it there are the tips of the two mounting screws entering the holes on the lock bracket. This is not good engineering at all.Obviously the whole thing can be reversed to the left hand side of the bike to enable the stops on the brackets to hold the weight of the lock, but that's not what I wanted and means the lock has to be inserted into the lock bracket from below and is not supported quite as well.The main photo here implies right hand fixing. See my notes on my uploaded version of this photo.So I'm not happy (obviously).This is a lot of money for a simple bracket system and Abus should supply two sets of brackets for both left and right fixing. Or at the very least produce a bracket system which tallies with their instructions - or vice versa.

The instructions say there are 4 possible positions for this D- lock holder.1. the diagonal front tube above the front wheel: This didn't work for me because my tube is too thick (about 50mm in diameter, and this only goes to 36mm). Also, this is where I carry a water bottle.2. The diagonal rear tube from the seat to the rear hub. This didn't work for me because my bike has a rear pannier and I carry pannier bags, and the D lock will interfere with that.3. the seat post tube. This didn't work because when the lock is installed, the keyhole is inaccessible under the top tube, and you need a lot of clearance to get the key into the lock to open it.4. The top tube. Mine is wider than 36mm, so it doesn't fit.However, I needed to get this thing because physically trying out every possible possibility was needed to convince me that it would not fit.

Due to the design of this you have to lock and unlock the shackle to get it into the holder,This means that the lock must be at least 2 inches lower than the top bar. I only had a 230mm lock and not the 300mm lock and I couldn't fit the lock inside of the frame as there was no room.I would preferer to have the lock at the top of the frame as opposed to lower down.You could fit it at the top but you would then have to twist the holder every time you wanted to fit the key.Nothing wrong with the design its the actual lock that's the issue.As for fitting it outside of the frame, that can be done, but then it would interfere with your pedalling.

Excellent build quality! But toooo expensive for what it is!!!!

The product images show two different types/sizes of mounts. I was sent the one in the photo which doesn't fit my lock (perhaps fits newer locks). I've sent it back.

I was hesitant to buy this because of the negative reviews. This works absolutely perfectly for me! The design is very elegant. If you own the ABUS U-lock this is built for, there is nothing better! I ended up buying a second one for my girlfriend.
