The Very Best Of Sandie Shaw

NOTHING LESS THAN BRILLIANT SANDIE
Sandie Shaw was one of the most popular of the female sixties singers.Fantastic pure pop music most of them composed by Chris Andrews. All of the major hits are here 'Long Live Love, 'Always Something There to Remind Me' No matter what Sandie thought of 'Puppet On A String' it was a major hit throughout the whole of Europe and was one of few Eurovision winners for the UK. 'You've Not Changed' and 'Today' were fantastic singles which should have been top 5 at the time. These singles really showcase the vocals of the fantastic Sandie. 'Those Were The Days' really should not have been covered as the lovely Mary Hopkin had scored a worldwide smash hit with this song. Sandie made a welcome return to the charts with 'Hand In Glove' and 'Nothing Less Than Brilliant' just takes you back to the sixties era. Thanks Sandie for some of the most brilliant and happy music of the sixties.

The natural Sandie Shaw
The unusual aspect of Sandie Shaw's singing is that she sounds entirely natural, as though she's simply singing for the joy of it; she could be singing in the bath or next door in the garden; she sounds as though someone just happened to be holding a microphone that she didn't even notice. For my taste, too many singers emote; too many singers make it sound difficult (and maybe it is for them); too many singers sound as though they ought to go and have a bit of a lie down afterwards. Shaw's voice, somwhat bell-like, is by contrast full of life, sometimes harsh, sometimes soft; and moving apparently effortlessly from warm to cold and back again. Of course all this is probably a showbiz illusion and she worked as hard in the studio as anyone else. But these effects work: the 60s recording make her sound like a girl having the time of her life, which may I suppose have been the case.

truly the best of sandie shaw
This is an excellent collection of Sandie's music as it contains not only her biggest hits (Tomorrow, Nothing Comes Easy, Message Understood) etc but many lesser known tracks that don't get aired even on nostalgia shows on the radio such as How Can You Tell, I Dont Need Anything, the atmospheric and dramatic Run and the Dusty-ish Think Sometimes About Me as well as the cream of her 80s work like Hand In Glove.Sandie is a truly versatile singer and I found this album to be really enjoyable and highly recommend it to anyone wanting a comprehensive collection of her recordings.

A true 60s icon producing songs that fit in any occasion and can never be considered dated.Sandie shows off her talents beautifully with orchestral support and amazing lyrics. Just play 'Had a dream last night' loudly and hear her split second timing.A good compilation with original tracks.
