Good KVM - here's a olution to get it to work without locking up after switching!
PROS:+ Cables included+ Small size+ Front buttons and LED indicators are easy to use and understand+ Works well with ultra-high resolution monitors (2560x1440)+ Manual is clear and makes use easy+ Hot keys can be re-assigned+ Beep can be disabled (unfortunately my PC still beeps when it detects the USB connections changing... oh well)CONS:- Sometimes when switching, the keyboard repeats key presses like "jjjjjjjjjjjjjj". This typically only happens within the first 3 seconds of switching ports. This also happens repeatedly if one PC is turned off. This does NOT happen if you plug the KVM cables into a set of always-on USB 2.0 ports on your motherboard (on my Asus mobo the 3.0 ports are not always on).SOLUTION: Wait a few seconds before you start typing, and be sure both PC's are turned on.- Sometimes after switching, the keyboard and/or mouse is not recognized by the active PC.SOLUTION: I discovered that moving the KVM USB cable to a different USB port on your computer can solve this problem. In my case, I moved the KVM USB cable to a USB 2.0 (not 3.0) pair (not quad set) of ports which fixed this issue on a newer Asus motherboard. The trick here is to discover what USB ports are "always powered" on your motherboard at startup. This can easily be done by plugging in an optical mouse and looking at the mouse's laser light during startup. If the light is off, use a different USB port. I can only assume the USB 3.0 ports I tried using have some sort of software emulation which caused problems (hence the need to install a software driver before they would work at all).In the end I am using a HP Wireless Elite Keyboard v2 and mouse. The keyboard is plugged into the "keyboard" USB port, and the mouse receiver is plugged into the front USB port.Everything works fine this way.----------------------[UPDATE] I purchased an HP Wireless Elite Keyboard v2 and plugged it into the keyboard port and it works fine - it will toggle the KVM using the hotkeys. No additional setup was needed. However, the special "function" buttons like mute, volume, etc., still don't work (but I never use them anyway, so I don't care).----------------------LOGITECH INSTRUCTIONS:I *was* using the Logitech Wireless Combo Mk520 With Keyboard and Laser Mouse (920-002553) and had a very frustrating time getting this to work. In the end, I discovered the wireless keyboard will work, but you can NOT use it to switch the displays using the hot-key sequences. You MUST use a wired (or non-Logitech) keyboard to use the hot-key controls.DIRECTIONS:1. Turn off the power to everything, INCLUDING your monitors and the KVM.2. Plug the Logitech wireless receiver into the REAR third USB port located by itself (for using the Logitech keyboard AND mouse) or the front USB port (for using a Logitech mouse ONLY)3. Turn on your power to everything (KVM should be powered on here), turn on the monitors, then turn on your first computer.4. If they keyboard and/or mouse do not work (as did mine) turn OFF the power to the mouse (the Logitech has a switch, you may have to remove the batteries) wait 5 seconds, then turn the mouse back on. In my case this made them start to work. Apparently this is how you enable the Logitech "Unifying" link system.6. Now press the "Next PC" button (2) on the KVM box. Repeat step 4 if needed (I had to do this). Now both computers should see the mouse.HOWEVER, IoGear confirmed that the Logitech "Unifying" receiver will NOT operate the hot keys via their wireless keyboards, so if you use a Logitech keyboard you must press the button on the KVM to switch between machines. Also, any "special" function buttons won't work, like volume, track next/prev, sleep, etc.FINAL NOTE: IoGear's website says:In order for hot key operation and instantaneous keyboard and mouse recognition when switching computers, our KVMs emulate a standard wired 102 key keyboard and wired generic 2-button scroll wheel mouse on their respective console ports. Although the KVM will function correctly with most wireless sets, because of the single input to the KVM, we cannot guarantee a particular wireless set will function with the KVM. If a wireless combo is going to work the single USB receiver would need to be plugged into the keyboard port of the KVM. However the KVM does two USB peripheral sharing ports which a wireless keyboard and mouse combo can be used through. If one of these ports is used for the wireless combo then all port switching will have to be done manually using the port selection buttons on the front of the KVM.

Works great!
I have an office Laptop dock and my home PC hooked up to two monitors. Running a modest 1680 x 1050 so did not have worries about the specs of this fellow. The KVM unit itself is a solid hefty thing, feels very nice to handle. The cables are also thinner than usual and less cumbersome to deal with. The unit is finished well and looks high end and seems to be built to last.I have a Kinesis Freestyle keyboard and a Evoluent mouse. Hooked them both up to the rear console ports: my Keyboard was recognized just fine but the mouse wouldn't work (cursor only moved horizontally!). My keyboard has a funky way to handle NumLock and ScrollLock so I could not get the ScrollLock-ScrollLock sequence to work either. Mouse worked just fine when I connected it to the front port though. However, losing the front port was not something I was happy with so I kept digging through the reviews and finally read some comments about the mouse emulation mode being a problem. Thank you!Since my KB wouldn't work to get into the "Hotkey Setup Mode", I hooked an old dell kb up and did the following after getting into the HSM each time (HSM sequence: Keep NumLock pressed, hit and release the - key and then release NumLock. You'll likely get a beep) 1) HSM r Enter (to set default settings just in case stray cosmic rays did their thing: did not fix my mouse) 2) HSM m (to disable mouse emulation which did fix my mouse issue! Yay!) 3) HSM t (to switch my hot-key sequence from ScrollLock|ScrollLock to Ctrl|Ctrl)Works pretty well now. I just wanted the video bits and kvm video switching works just great. No flickering or otherwise nasty artifacts with my Samsung 226BW monitors from either the laptop dock or my desktop. The KVM seems to be kinda picky about the interval between hits of the ScrollLock key (Ctrl in my case). Hit them too fast and nothing happens. Like some one else mentioned, doing it slow, like giving a 1 sec gap seems to work.Took one star out for the serial port business for the Firmware update and the lack of warnings for the mouse-emulation bit in the scanty manual. I can buy a serial-to-usb connector like TRENDnet USB to RS-232 Serial Converter TU-S9 (White) if I need but it is still a pain (and not sure if it will work either). The KVM is full of USB ports in the back and one in the front, would it have killed them to put one more in for FW update on a 500$ product!

Works beautifully!
It arrived today! I hooked everything up using the cables provided. Only cables I bought ahead of time separately (from Memory Express) were two HDMI to DVI adapter cables, since both of my computers only have one HDMI and DVI port each. Plugged everything into the KVM switch, turned it on, and it automatically detected both computers within a few seconds, along with my two monitors, keyboard, and mouse! Had to reboot one of my computers for it to fully "play nice" with the KVM for some reason, but then it worked!Works beautifully! Love that it came with most of the cables needed! Helped ensure it would work, no doubt! Love the hotkey switching to go between computers (scroll lock x 2, enter). I'd like to change those hotkeys, but it works, so that's really minor!Very well designed and well built device! Doesn't look or feel cheap at all! Admittedly a bit pricey, but honestly, it's worth it given how what it does and how well it works compared to more expensive units, and especially if it continues to work well for years! The manual and website says you can upgrade the firmware, but I don't want to mess with it since it works, so I won't be doing that. The website seems to indicate you can switch between computers by pressing the wheel down on the mouse, but that doesn't work for me. Not a big deal at all.At this point, I strongly recommend it!For what it's worth, I tried two less expensive StarTech KVMs and returned them before I got this IOGear KVM. The StarTech KVMs were very flaky and unreliable in detecting, switching, and using everything. I don't want to entirely knock StarTech, as I've used many of their cables and other otherwise hard to find parts over the years without issue, all bought from Memory Express (in addition to my computers!). But at least in my experience they don't seem to make very good KVMs.

Good product. Did what I expected
Good product. Did what I expected. I had a defective cable, however, IOGEAR was quick to replace without any hassle.

Did not work for dual monitor support
Sadly, this set didn't work for dual monitor support. I set it up as described, pushed to two HDMI monitors, and it just fell flat. Would not recognize the second monitor. Further, I know it wasn't my system given I purchased a CKL KVM and it all fired right up, no problem whatsoever.Do not recommend, though the system did feel sturdy enough in construction.
