Awesome exercise!
Love to hula hoop and found my regular hoop to be underwhelming after about 45 mins. Got this baby in hopes that it would help mix things up! Now I can hoop for several hours with the regular hoop, and switch off with the weighted one when I need to sweat. It does feel harsh on the ribs so you have to be consistent enough in hula hooping to keep it in the sweet spot. Prepare to burp/toot as well, as this acts as a massage to your innards and lower back muscles (it feels AH-MAZING on my back, I have scoliosis) and will cause gases to shift. If you're constipated, HOOP! Definitely start at a lower weight than 5 lbs unless you are consistent with cardio and ab exercises. And also a definite increase in stamina/flexibility in the hip and lower back areas as well.

greatest invention in the world
I have been using this product for about 2-3 yrs now and it is the best work out tool ever made. When I first started hoopin with this, I lost 3 inches off my waist and have kept it off. it burns 100 calories in 10 minutes. I go every day for at least 20 minutes. Not only does it help with loss of inches and strength training it also helps with back problems, constipation and it is just an overall better health tool. I've seen other women use this and their confidence level increased as well. I recommend that every one should have one of these.

AWESOME!
I have been using this Hula Hoop for about 2 months now. Works just as expected. This was the 2nd hula hoop I bought, the first one fell apart after a month of use and was the foam padded kind. This hula hoop is excellent. I use it every day 60 mins or more. Beware...if you are a first time user, YOU WILL BE BRUISED the first few weeks of use, until you get the hang of it. I had to start with 5 mins a day, until I got use to it. But I love the results I am now getting :) With my changed eating habits, I have lost 3" off my waist and 3" off my hips in 6 weeks :)

Previous reviews quite accurate...
The ridges built into the inside of the hula hoop does take about a week or two to get used to. The slapping against your hips and waist does cause minor bruising at first, however, in my wife's case she experienced MORE discomfort and pain then myself or my daughter did. For those who would not like to experience that discomfort I suggest getting a weighted sports hoop that does NOT have inside ridges. The 5 lb hoop is great to get a warm-up before working out (I power walk and do mini-tramp work outs as a work-out modification as a result of chronic sciatica). I also use it post work-out to cool down or keep burning calories. The great part is if you have enough space in front of your TV you can watch a 1/2 hour sitcom (or longer) and just keep hooping! I surf quite a bit so keeping my hips loose is key to staying surf-ready and the sports hoop is a good work-out tool to do that.

my favorite! great quality
my favorite! great quality. inside is a soft surface that doesn't hurt you and kinda massages you all around while you do your exercises. Heavy weight comparing to many others. Not suggesting for the beginners. :) I am not a beginner so It feels amazing. Great source to burn extra calories while you are watching TV or simply if you have to be home for some reason.

Nice
My favorite thing is that it can come apart so it is great for travel. I have a hoop I used regularly that is 6lbs but I will be traveling and can’t take it. I gave it 2 stars b/c of this.*****edit*****This hoop is hard (against my midsection ) to use compares to my 6lb one that I already own. I didn't use it at all on my trip b/c of this. I plan to add padding to it, it will not longer be able to come apart but it should be easier to use it with padding.
