Grey Gardens Hardcover – Audiobook, June 30, 2009

If you are a fan of Grey Gardens, this is a must have. It is full of pictures, tidbits, scripts, etc. the book is well worth the money and fun to read through.

I received this book today and went through it and couldn't beleive all the love,sweat and hard work that went into putting the book together. I am so happy to own a copy of this book its well put together and when you open the book you are opening the front door to grey gardens and feeling and understanding all the emotions that go along with it.I felt I was there when this documentary was being made. The Beales are very colorful personalites.You can't help but like and feel for these two women, little Edie dreamed of being a star and Big Edie wanted to be the center of attention.When the documentary of their life in grey gardens was released they did get the attention and became stars. Noone knew the impact this documentary would have on people when it was released people were fansinated with this mother and daughter relationship. And until this day even though they are long gone fans like myself keep their spirit alive."Cheers!" to The Beales of Grey Gardens, and thanks to everyone involed in the making of their story and this outstanding book. This book is a must have to add to your grey gardens collection.

This is a special book, done in a beautiful style by the Maysles Sisters, it has many obscure out takes, references and tidbits that I found fascinating, it's vibrant and interesting to look at, it has a cd in the back that's absolutely AWESOME. It has audio outtakes with Big Edie, Edie, Jerry, Lois and the Maysles talking about all sorts of things, including raccoons, spirits, electricity and many other subjects. One conversation in particular between Jerry and Edie sheds more light on the nature of the types of work Jerry did and the relationship he had with the Beales, it's a heartfelt off the cuff clip, you'll love this book.

I bought this as a birthday gift for my son, but when it arrived I was surprisingly pleased about it! It was beautifully bound, wonderful layout and just pure fun skimming through it. My son has loved Grey Gardens for years, and even visited GG in the Hamptons last summer, so he LOVED the book.

Fascinating book that clarified much of the movie for me since the conversations that were difficult to understand in the documentary are set down here in writing. Also includes some wonderful photographs with relevant comments from the characters in this true life fractured fairy tale. Don't bother with this book unless you're already head over heels for the charming Edies.

This book was not what I expected. It is presented like a scrapbook with handwritten notes and quotes all over the place. Only for someone who is a diehard fan or collector and who has already seen the movie and perhaps more able to follow the book. I returned my copy. Also, collectors would probably like to know that there is a CD in the back of book with recordings of the ladies talking/singing.

I love Grey Gardens and everything having to do with it. The two Eddies are a hoot. Many probably won't like the format of this book as it reads like a scrapbook - but I still found it interesting...didn't really learn anything new but it was fun to just page through the scrapbook and to think about what it must have been like.

My friend was quite interested in Grey Gardens and the people who lived there. I gave her the book for Christmas, and she shared her enthusiasm for all she was learning from the book as she continued to read it.

This is a beautiful book that I will treasure! A must have for Grey Gardens fans.

Ok, this book ain't cheap, it's certainly the most I've ever paid for a book, £28:00 (as of writing )isn't exactly chicken feed. However it's an American publication at 45 dollars so it's pricey there to. Anyway enough of this vulgar talk of money the question is 'is it any good?' Well it's absolutely fantastic, beautifully illustrated and designed and includes a CD of the Beales singing! It's full of wonderful quotes and transcripts of conversations not heard in either of the documentaries. So splash out and get it. Worth every penny.

This quality book is a great coffee table read. Very interesting subject and story.

this movie was amazing i ordered the book & dvd. i just watched it again last night on tv & still it's amazing. the people acting in this movie are great!!! you won't regreat ordering it!!!

I love the documentary and this is a perfect companion with extra information and photos. There is also an audio CD included, I need to find a CD player so I can listen to it!!
