A Must Read for the Drone Hobbyist
This book will save you time and money. I am a newbie to flying drones but not to reviewing books. As a college professor, my job for 40 years was to write and critique books and manuscripts. Mark Smith has done an excellent job capturing the essence of the drone hobby in a brief, readable and enjoyable book. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants an overview of flying quadcopters and drones. Mark doesn't miss the essentials but he also doesn't provide extensive technical details that tend to turn off the average reader. I was able to read Quadcopters and Drones in an evening but have kept it my flight box for future reference. This should be in everyone's library who enjoys flying quadcopters and drones for pleasure or as a professional.

This guide is for very early beginners, before even having a drone or contemplating a purchase
This is for very early beginners. It covers the basics pretty well, but leaves many questions; but gives plenty of references where you can find out more. I found no errors or very outdated information; and the author doesn't attempt to steer the reader toward any product, brand, or level of sophistication. I enjoyed his casual style and he doesn't attempt to intimidate the reader with jargon (but he does explain some of the more common acronyms, words, and phrases). This book is perfect for people just starting to "think" about UAVs, to be read well before actually having one.

Just ok
There is some good information here, but he has a very condescending writing style that is off-putting. Oh, and 1980 called. They want their jokes back.

Droneology Explained!
An excellent beginner's guide. Well-illustrated with easy to understand descriptions of products, procedures, and lessons to avoid learning the hard way.The author provides POC information at the back of the book; when he encourages his readers to contact him, he means it! I had a question regarding control movements for a specific flight maneuver and he replied to my email within hours, providing recommendations and additional insights.I'd definitely recommend this easy-reading book to anyone beginning this hobby.

Poor effort.
By "beginner" I think he means 8 to 10 years old. If the reader falls in that bracket, they will enjoy this book. It's what I call a "stretch" book. The author did not have enough material so he made the print large, big space between paragraphs, and empty spaces on on some pages.

Four Stars
kinda short, but interesting if you are just jumping into the drone world
