Digitally remastered and expanded edition of this 1976 album from the British Blues band. Gold Plated would be one of the band's most acclaimed albums, with the track 'Couldn't Get It Right' becoming a hit single. This reissue features eight bonus tracks, all previously unreleased on CD, including a rare BBC Radio One session from September 1976 and a selection of studio out-takes and singles. The reissue includes a lavishly illustrated booklet that fully restores the original album artwork and a new essay. Esoteric.

I needed “Extra”
Classic late 70s Climax Blues Band. May just be their finest effort!

Climax Blues Band Gold Plated
A real, honest-to-goodness blues band who worked in the background to others, Climax Blues Band was second to none. With Colin Cooper, Peter Haycock, Derek Holt, and Richard Jones, they had started out as Climax Chicago Blues Band, but shortened it in 69. But Gold Plated was their biggest effort. With the song "Couldn't Get It Right", they got it right, and "Together And Free" and "Extra" and nice cuts. Great blues effort from a great Blues band.

Stylish
Climax Blues Band has been around for decades, but hasn't really attracted the attention it deserves. For a moment there the world focused on "Couldn't Get It Right", and the band enjoyed some time in the national spotlight. That moment has faded, but the music is still as solid and enjoyable as ever.Smooth, swirling guitar solos, rumbling bass, and classic blues volcals differentiate the band. Listen to Sav'ry Gravy, Berlin Blues, and Rollin' Home for some of their best. "Together and Free" sounds a bit dated, but nobody is perfect! An excellent album!

This is one of the rock masterpieces from the 1970's. It still sounds as fresh as it did in 1976. The remastered version is a definite improvement in the sound quality. Can't go wrong with this one.

AHEAD OF THEIR TIME
I SAW THESE GUYS 41 YEARS AGO WHEN I TURNED FOURTEEN. THEY WERE TIGHT THEN AND HAVE REMAINED ENDURING OVER THE YEARS. " ROLLING HOME" IS SHORT BUT SOME OF THE FINEST BLUES GUITAR EVER PLAYED. I STILL GET GOOSE BUMPS EVERY TIME I HEAR IT.

Timeless
Funky blues not really my genre but got this in 76 after seeing them at the Reading festival - despite the mega line-up Climax Blues Band shone out with their brilliance live. Worth it for the first two tracks and they stand up well - very confident playing by proper musicians.

They certainly got it right on this one
I used to have this on vinyl. Briefly when it came out but thanks to the astournding Raw live and Rare 3rd set in have rediscovered this all over again along with the stamp and reel to reel albumsFirstly it sound simply fantastic thanks to a beautiful remaster by Mark Poxwell at Esoteric whose climax reissue programme this is a part of plus it has 7 worthy bonus tracks that add almost 28 minutes extra music and a very informative booklet this band has a very subtle oomph to their music and it's a album that grows in stature as you ilsten to it more and more and in Peter Haycock they had a guitarist of great texture, tone and taste and along with Colin Coopers sax added an extra dimension to their soundTop class album.

Funk Blues dream team
They're both sadly gone now, but while they were active together between 1968 and 1984, ace guitarist Peter Haycock with his clear high voice and falsetto skill, together with Colin Cooper, prime saxophonist and vocal counterpoint to Pete with his guttural, Alexis Korner type baritone voice, supplied the Blues and more - Soft Funk that touched the souls and minds of the people, especially in America - they accepted these coals from Newcastle, or rather Stafford, with joy."Together And Free", the opening track, sums it up, and more jewels like "Mighty Fire" and the mega hit "Couldn't Get It Right follow on. Great cover, too - this short and sweet album is a must-have from 1976. Then again, get them all.

Starke Bluesgruppe
Blues vom Feinsten. Kann man immer wieder hören und hat einfach gute Laune. Musik die leider heute nicht mehr produziert wird.

買って損はないです。
昔好きだった「Couldn't Get It Right」がどうしても聴きたくなって購入。当時このアルバムが全米で売れたのは知っていたけど初めて通して聴いてみて、ポップなメロディに驚き。全8曲が物足りないくらいです。ブルースロック好きに限らず一度聴いてみてはいかがでしょう。
