Singstar Wireless Microphones - Standalone (Ps2/ps3)

Was so excited to see wireless mics available for SingStar. We often have gatherings at the house and play this game on our PS3. Our game console is in the media closet so we are tethered quite close to this closet whenever we use the wired mics. Bought this in preparation for our annual Thanksgiving celebration, but during test runs with the family we found the sound would cut in and out plus there would be crackling sounds while singing. We tried replacing the batteries, moving around the room (closer be further from the game unit and mic dongle), but to no avail. The sound cutting in and out meant you weren't scored for that portion of singing. The crackling was also quite annoying. Lastly, there was also a bit of a delay that was noticeably worse than the wired mics...enough to through you off when singing. Sadly, decided to return the item and this process was quite simple and painless...hence the two stars instead of one based on the quality of the mics. Maybe one day Sony will create a better quality set of wireless mics!!!

If you want to get into Singstar all you need are these wireless microphones. Singstar Online can be downloaded from the PS3 store for free. You will have to pay for each song, but it's better than buying a disc. The microphones work very well, they are not bluetooth but require a homing device plugged into PS3 by USB, which takes up a port. The only pain is if you disconnect it and someone in the house who plays Singstar isn't aware of how to reconnect it. Other than that, it does the job well.

We play singstar with friends and family. The old fashioned mics with wires were a pain to use due to their limited range. And, the kids would get caught up in the wires when playing and dancing to the songs. These wireless mics totally cleared up a lot of clutter from the wires, and they work very simply and pretty well. There is a slight delay in transmitting the sound though. Not enough to affect game play, but it is noticeable. Still, it's been a lot of fun, and getting wireless totally made up for it.

My husband, kids and I have always loved singstar and when ps3 came out with wireless microphones it was the best thing ever. No more having to sit right next to each other and close to the t.v. and hearing feedback in the speakers. No more taking the chance of pulling on the cord and knocking the system onto the floor and breaking and not being able to play at all. We used to only play for a couple hours a week, but since we got the wireless microphones it is like "Ok hurry up and get homework, chores and dinner over with so we can play SingStar!" for an hour every night minimal. It definitely has brought my family closer together because now we all have something that we can agree on and it's for all ages. Plus it opens my kids minds to all different genres of music. My kids are 19, 17 and 10 and my husband and I are 34 and 37. Thanks a million for inventing these wireless microphones!!!!

The inside box inside the mail package was pretty beat up. The batteries were out of the package and fell right out when I opened the box. One of the microphones had some scratches on it so they looked refurbished not new to me.. However so far so good! they connect great and pick up sound fabulously! Good buy!

it took a long time for me to finally buy these microphones but what was I waiting on....it makes life so much easier...during party mode we no longer have to stand in a tight bunch waiting to pass the mic worrying about tripping on the cord...highly recommended

These wireless mics are very convenient to store and easier to use than the wired mics that come with Singstar. The only problem is that they do not register your singing quite as well as the wired mics. I will still use these before taking out the mess of wires that come alone with the wired mics.

So far, excellent quality and super convenient! These microphones sound really good and are especially nice to use after having been tied up to the PS3 by wired mics all these years!

The instructions were missing and we had trouble setting up, but actually you can find them online, and we just had to check the receiver was switched on and mics were glowing green, then good to go for a great party!No issues using for PS4 and we downloaded some more songs. Hopefully more to come.

Great product, connects to the playstation with a usb and wireless little device which i assume detects the microphones. If the microphones are not well seen by that device they sometimes may not register sound or there may be some lag. However that has been rare. Also used them with the PS4, i preferred them to the mic app.

The Singstar wireless microphones are just as good as the wired versions but with all the benefits of not having wires to untangle and trail across the floor. They feel good in the hand, being neither too bulky / heavy nor light / toy-like. We're still on the first set of batteries, but not sure how long the batteries will last overall - a pity there isn't some form of 'battery-low' indicator to reduce the chances of running out mid-game, so maybe advisable to have a spare set of batteries around just in case! Overall, very pleased with purchase and loving the greater ease of use. Would highly recommend to anyone who likes Singstar. As a long-time fan of Singstar, I was almost wishing for my old wired microphones to die, so that I could justify purchasing the wireless versions.Well, they finally did, and I've got to say that these new microphones are everything I hoped for. Easy to set-up, work perfectly, solid construction - plus a handy bag to keep them in.When I first read about these I did question why Sony didn't make them rechargeable, but on reflection having them battery operated makes so much more sense, as who would want to stop a singstar session to have to plug them in to charge, when it's so much quicker to just swap a set of batteries - and you can always buy rechargables if you really want.If you like singstar, you'll love these!

I bought these along with the game, but I wanted the wireless microphones because I had previously played singstar and wasn't keen on the wires!So when I seen these were available, I thought great!They arrived very quickly, as always with Amazon, and all I can say is wow! the game itself NEEDS these wireless microphones, no wires, no tripping over!you can take the mic's all around the room, and still keeps connection and signal.They are easy to hold and light(in my opinion)If you want to get singstar or already have it, I say get these! you wont regret it!
