Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Ultimate Collection, Vol. 4 (TMNT Ultimate Collection)

Missing Issues, but for a reason
As you start to go through these and read the commentary, you will come to find that Eastman and Laird stopped getting along all that well. They also got busy with the animated series and everything else they were doing. If neither worked on the comic, there is no commentary to be had. It seems these are the missing issues. You get some solid story arcs out of this volume that make it worth it, IMO

Really Good
I think I've finally figured out why despite the weirdness, silliness, and inconsistent storytelling, I still like the Turtles so much. This collection perfectly illustrates it too.I like the randomness and unpredictability of the stories. I really like the art. Those clean black and white lines are very easy on the eyes. I also like how the comics are often adult themed. This collection marks the first time I've seen a real long term comic storyline, with "City at War". It doesn't make a lot of sense, and I feel like all the skipped issues missing from these collections are starting to take their toll. But it's still really good. Recommended.

Another great throwback about the Turtles in a very nice Hard Cover!
I added this book to my previous three hard back book collection about the Turtles. Of course, this book rates right up there with the previous three; I admire the artwork, stories and all of the hard work that the artists put into it. This is a quality book. It may have critics. I'm not one.

Flawed Edition of Pinnacle Story
This is as good as Ninja Turtle comics get. The "City at War" story arc collected in this volume as well as volume 5 of the "Ultimate Collections" takes the concept of these characters to the limit. What place do the turtle brothers have in this world? How much are they willing to sacrifice in order to honor their father? What is the cost of revenge? If there is one TMNT story you should read this is it.Like others have said, the art is missing some of the shading that was in the original single-issue releases, but that's no reason not to jump in if you've never read this story before!

Where are the tones?
This is another great collection from IDW including some of the best Ninja Turtles comics in existence. It still has new artwork for the cover and creator annotations, but three of the issues are missing tones. It really hurts the flow and feel of the epic "City at War" storyline and is an integral part of the overall atmosphere of the books. Maybe there is a reason they are missing but it hurts the product in the end.

It's okay but its more about visuals
This volume or various issues focuses more on April O'Neil and Casey Jones separating themselves from each other and from the turtles. April is living with her sister in L.A, trying to forget all her misadventures. While Casey is dealing with the aftermath of a street punk's death and wandering around looking for equilibrium in his life. The turtles however are on a hunt for an unknown ninja figure, slaying foot clan members in New York. It's a interesting read, looking through the side characters mindset then the main leads (turtles).I'm keen on purchasing the next volume. If they ever bring Casey Jones back to the big screen, which probably will happen sooner or later... they should read these issues; "Shades of Grey I & II" and "City at War".

I am glad I bought all of these at once
I am glad I bought all of these at once, after reading the third book in the Ultimate collection I had to continue on to this one. The stories are great and its very interesting to see what Eastman and Laird have to say about each story. The stories in this and all the others are intense.

City At War begins.
This book collects the two build up issues and the first half of City At War.Not giving away any spoilers but this is probably the greatest TMNT story written and this volume is well worth picking up for any TMNT or comic fan.
