I love Alfie and Annie Rose. Shirley Hughes writes the best children's stories! They are cute and funny, beautifully illustrated and relatable. My children grew up with these stories and now they read them to their children.

My 5 year old granddaughter has asked me to read these stories again and again. The stories about Annie Rose learning to talk and Alfie being in a wedding are particular favorites.

I got this for my 4 yo grandson who was sick and need lots of quiet time. This was the perfect book to get his imagination going and a great time passing activity.

These stories and their wonderful illustrations stand up to the test of time. I found them in England when my children were small and am enjoying sharing them with my children's friends as they have children. Shirley Hughes is a treasure!

Shirley Hughes writes with an understanding of young children that is hard to match. My sons used to love her books and now my grandsons. The four year old in particular, closely identifies with Alfie, even though the illustrations and some situations are from England in the seventies. I am from England, and so that probably also contributes to the nostalgia that the books create for me.

My daughter and I loved Alfie years ago. When my grand-nephew turned 3, I bought this Alfie collection for him, and now he and his moms love it, too!

A really great book. I fell in love with Ir watching a TV program about its drawings. So I ordered some of her books, and I am deleted. The drawings are wonderful and so well done, it is very realistic with a lot of poetry and pure joy! I am an adult, and appreciate those books for the drawings but children will appreciate both the illustrations and the stories. I strongly recommend the books of Shirley Hughes!
