Urban Gita's idea for ghee was born from a desire to bring ancient wisdom into modern times, making "Healthy Living Made Simple." Their organic, grass-fed ghee is made in the "traditional" way from cultured butter, this makes it different than just clarified butter. It is clarified for 2 hours or more to get the purest oil, free from all the milk solids and then filtered through a cheese cloth to ensure quality. The product does not require refrigeration- that statement is being removed from future labels. You'll note that the ghee has a grainy texture, which indicates a high quality ghee that is sealed right away so that no oxidation occurs, which ensures no spoilage is possible. Plus when sealed at the high temperature, it sterilizes the jar. This ghee contains no lactose or casein, but the Oregon Department of Agriculture requires that the label state that it is made from dairy for severe allergies.

Not very good ghee.
The overall taste is bland compared to the other popular brands that sell here on Amazon.Both jars went rancid pretty quickly. It took me about 2 to 3 weeks to go through one jar and by the time I got to the bottom, the texture changed to a lighter yellow color and the taste was unpleasantly salty. Had to throw away some of it from both jars.

Urban Gita just does not taste like other Ghee
I have used Ghee for months now on my Paleo diet, and I have tried several brands. Urban Gita just does not taste like other Ghee, it does not work like other Ghee, and I just cannot love it like other Ghee. This product has a more waxy consistency than Ghee. Not buying again.

NOT GRASS FED, very deceptive advertising
The front of the label says that it is grass-fed. But the back label says It is NOT 100% grass-fed but meets organic standards. That means that is organic all right but NOT grass fed. Very deceptive advertising and not shown on the amazon blow up label.
