The 2011 vintage was the coolest in the Willamette Valley's history. As we entered Harvest season, the grapes were registering far below the necessary sugar levels to make wine. We pulled leaves to expose the grapes to the available sunlight and waited. Our patience was rewarded in October with a wonderful Indian Summer which raised the sugars and allowed us to pick grapes in November with the full benefit of extended time on the vine for deep flavors. The result is a classic vintage with graceful, ageble wines of low alcohols and high natural acidity.
