Little Women (Wordsworth Collector's Editions)

Love the colors of the cover. One of my granddaughters favorite books.

I’m in my mid thirties and have never read Little Women. I have seen some of the movies but finally bought this copy to add to my collection and read. It seems this book is either loved or loathed. At first I thought I may be in the loath camp, it does start a little slow and I was worried it would feel long and mundane. However, I was quickly intrigued by all the detail that is not in the movies (of course, books are always better). The Christian aspects running throughout are left out of the movies, many details of conversations, and even whole chapters. I was delighted with these extra details and found myself wanting to read more and more. I do agree that there is not much plot, it is like a collection of individual stories, which makes it easy to end with each chapter, but they all run together building on each other and their characters. Yes, it’s a bit slow, but for me it shows the beauty of everyday life, which we all live and endure at times. I love watching the characters struggle and overcome very real battles we all face within ourselves. I relate to all of them in a way and as a mother now, even more so with Marmee. I so wish I had read this growing up, I find my heart and soul delight in each chapter and look forward to reading it with my girls again and again.I will say, I am disappointed this is on the first book. Many have said it’s only “half the book” which is not true. This is the whole Little Women, however, the movies are the first and second book (Good Wives) joined together. Many copies do combine both under the same title of Little Women making it confusing for those who don’t know. I love this cover and am collecting the books from this collection, so I do wish it was both books combined, but it’s not enough disappointment to spoil it for me. I will either buy another copy of the second book or buy one that has both while keeping this one for my collection. I feel the combined version of 700+ pages would intimidate my daughter, so I’m glad to have this one.

It is a little small, but it is hard back and oh so cute, I bought it for my friend and she simply loved it, it looks like it is the full book. It’s very nice, she takes it everywhere she goes.

Perfect gift or keepsake.

As you can see in my pictures the book is still in the packaging it came in and the book looks used. I didn't see anything stating that this was anything but brand new. I'm a bit disappointed.

The wording in the book is very odd. But it still works.

Was a bit hesitant to order because of other reviews, but came perfectly - no dents or folds. As others have mentioned this is only Part 1 of the full book.

O material é de ótima qualidade, chegou MUITO RÁPIDO (em alguns dias sendo que eu moro em Manaus) e o cuidado em colocá-los separadamente em plásticos para não ter nenhum dando! Sério, estou muito apaixonada e foi minha melhor compra até agora! 💛

I know you should never judge a book by its cover but these styles of books are so pretty!!

It’s a beautiful book, and the story is fantastic. Unfortunately, the book was damaged. The corners are robbed off and the beautiful colour is gone. A little bit of protection around the book would’ve helped.

The book is really beautiful and in a very good condition. It is a must buy!
