Good basic starting info for court reporters
Good basic starting info for court reporters, scopists, legal transcriptionists. However, it would have been nice if the answers to all the exercises were given in the back. If this were the case, I'd rate it 5 stars.

only OK at best, required text for class
This happened to be a required textbook I had to buy for my Legal Term class in court reporting school. The whole thing is basically a glossary with some True/False and Matching exercises at the end of each chapter.PROS:-covers all terms used in the legal world-gives little tidbits of actual court reporting mishaps to avoid in the real-world setting at the beginning of each chapterCONS:-it's basically just a dictionary-the definitions are not of the "easy-to-understand" type, reads very much like a pretentious old-school formal encyclopedia-the exercises aren't that helpful-the accompanying CD-rom is not Mac compatible-it's $100 and just a simple paperback in all black and white-my own TEACHER actually said he was not a fan of the way this book was publishedI would never recommend this book to myself for the purpose of learning this kind of material WELL. How can you learn these THOUSANDS of legal terms just by reading it all listed out like a dictionary??? Bad format choice.
