I'm a bit of a shoe enthusiast. Here's my take:
If you're unfamiliar with the 'Goodyear Welt' terminology, you can google it but it's essentially the best construction type for mens' shoes because it makes the soles very easy and inexpensive to replace. Any cobbler/shoe repair place should be able to do it. The next best construction is a Blake Stitch which has a slightly slimmer sole than the Goodyear Welted sole, but it's a lot more expensive to replace the soles of a Blake when they eventually wear through. Sometimes as much as a new pair of shoes. So, Goodyear Welted shoes are always more money up front but will last a long, long time. The upper of these shoes is calfskin. A calfskin, Goodyear Welted shoe at this price is quite astonishing to be quite frank. So, where do they save on price? It's usually in the last - the foot-shaped mold used to shape the leather the shoe. A cheap shoe tends to be more bulky as they try to fit as many feet as possible. The last shape isn't as slimline as some high end shoes but then these are not $800. I was pleasantly surprised with the last shape and how comfortable they fit. I thought the shape looked kind of bulky/cheap in the pictures but in reality, they look smart. Not bulky at all.In fit, I am either a 10, 10.5, or an 11. In sneakers, I tend to be an 11 and in dress shoes, I have three pairs of 10.5, one 10, and one 11. The 10.5 was just a tad roomy and the 10 was a tad snug. I went with the 10. In dress shoes, always but the more snug pair. The first two or three times you put them on, warm them up with a hairdryer first, then continue to heat them for the first minute they're on your feet. They help with breaking in tremendously! The quality of the leather seems absolutely fine to me, as does the buckle. It's not too flimsy and the leather has no visible scars on it.On the package and presentation, I was blown away. I did not expect such a nice box, a brass shoe horn, two cotton shoe bags, and spare soles. That's crazy at this price! After this pair, I went and bought their patent/tuxedo shoes as well. Those are equally high in quality, fit, and comfort.

Well built, but too shiny
The width is very exact. I wear Johnston and Murphy 7.5 3E shoes. This shoe is too narrow for me. So, if you wear 3E shoes normally, these will not fit you. I am returning this shoe for the reasons listed below. The 3-star rating reflects personal tastes. It may be a five star shoe for someone else.Pros: Inexpensive; Looks solidly built; Comes with a lot accessories.Cons:The leather is very shiny, almost has a plasticky patent look to it. I wouldn't wear these with a suit for business. At least before breaking in, the leather is a bit stiff for me.The arch was high, and will not be comfortable for flat feet like mine.

Congratulations Anthony Veer --- this is a superior product at an excellent price point. Don't think twice --- Just Buy It.
I am wearing the Anthony Veer Men's Classic Single Strap Dress Shoe for the first time as I write this review. Before I did this, on separate days, I treated the shoe first with leather conditioner and then with mink oil.My first impression upon unboxing was to be absolutely taken aback with the shine. I had not expected this level of shine almost to patent leather level, but I have grown to like it. The finish is absolutely flawless. The shoe simply looks a lot more expensive than what I paid for it (on sale). Today, when I put on the shoe, I modelled it for my wife. She was absolutely taken aback with the beauty of the shoe and called it very classy. My compliments to Anthony Veer. I will be a repeat customer as they expand their product offerings. My only issue is with the fit as I experienced some pressure on my little toes. This is undoubtedly fine leather and needs to break in. I am a 9.5W, but the cut of this shoe makes it a bit snug at the toes, not excessively so, but a much more snug that I am used to or anticipated with a wide width shoe. This is due to the cut of the show which tapers in the front. When I move around my feet in the shoes, I see the leather flexing/ moving along with my feet. Undoubtedly, this shoe will adjust to my feet. However, I will get it stretched a bit at the side/ toe area as I am not too fond of the discomfort with breaking-in new leather shoes. Yet, I am happy that I did not order the 10D or 10EE, for the stretching will be minor, and to the width only.I cannot say how beautiful these shoes are when one wears it. Looking down, one just simply feels well-dressed, though I am currently wearing it with jeans and they look fantastic. Now, if Anthony Veer would come out with colors in addition to black, I would definitely be a repeat customer. These shoes I expect to last a lifetime, and since it is my 2nd pair of goodyear welted black leather shoes (the other is a Johnson and Murphy Melton cap toe, also from Amazon), I do not think that I will be in the market for another black pair for a number of years as fine goodyear welt leather shoes last a long time with proper care.

***One month to break in***
These shoes will make you hate life at first, but they look so good!!! I get compliments all the time and the quality is phenomenal! Very high quality construction, you feel like you're smashing everything in your path with these shoes. Slippery at first, but after about a week or two they get some grip. I cannot say enough in regards to the quality of this shoe. It took about a month to get fully used to them And I feel like parts of my feet had to "evolve" or something like that. I laugh because women always complain about their ruined feet because of a good pair of shoes. Well these shoes won't do that, but they will hurt for the first 2-3 weeks. I use them daily, I work at a bank so they get a lot of use. Even with all that use it took just abiut a month to fully break them in, and after all that pain it was worth it! Just give it time, and remember this is my experience. Maybe your feet are tougher! Over all this is a high quality beautiful well constructed shoe! And I love how they sound when you walk. It's not a high pitch sound, they are not too loud either, but that's compared to other leather shoes (If you don't know, leather shoes call attention). I love this shoe and I will definitely but another pair in a different style! If you buy this shoe, give it time to break in!! It will be worth it!!
