The result is both disturbing and inciting, just as the artist intended. The style is not mainstream, and it's not for everyone. But Rob, surprisingly enough, creates truly inspired, S&M oriented albums that sound more sophisticated than the repetitive, looped pounding of club music or the unimaginative porn movie music. He has undoubtedly raised the bar for other composers in this dark genre. Pure Talent!
Robert is a friend of mine. I was directing a version of the play, 'Frankenstein'. I wanted some background music in certain parts of the play (this was after he had his first two albums out). A friend, introduced me to Rob, he and I talked. Within a week, I had an entire score, not for just the 3-4 scenes I wanted but for the entire play from start to finish. It was 'awesome'. I think he makes it available on his site. Regardless, this man is one of the more talented musicians I've ever met and I am glad to call him a friend.I'm tryin' to reach you now, Rob. Dark new age brilliance
Imagine Patrick O'Hearn is posessed by Satan. If that were the case, this would be the album he'd release. Anderson wrote this music to be a sountrack for sadomasochistic sex. (Literally) But it works equally well for when you're in a melancholy mood, or you want to listen to something dark and foreboding. If you're a fan of O'Hearn, particularly his darker stuff like Metaphor or Indigo, you're gonna dig this one.
