Stanwood Bonsai Tool 10-Pocket Case Heavy Duty Tool Roll

It is made of sturdy canvas and my bonsai tools fit perfectly in it. I think it will last a long time based on how it is constructed. I gave it 4 stars because the only thing I would change is the large plastic buckles. While they do the work I think they are bulky and get in the way at times. I would have preferred a simpler strap of the same fabric and color as the wrap itself. While the buckles are ugly they do the job. I might just remove them or cut one off and shorten them in the long run so they don’t get in the way.

I'm a bonsai student and wanted a sturdy, practical way to store and protect my growing collection of tools. Some of them have sentimental value because I purchased them in Japan, and the higher-end tools are pricey, so they deserve care and attention to ensure they'll last for the decades they're meant to.I'd combed the stores in Hawaii and in Tokyo and Osaka, with no luck. The various sensei in my beginner classes last fall had advised that we find ways to keep each tool separate from the other, and one of them had a homemade triple-thickness denim roll that looked like an old-fashioned chisel roll. With all the purpose-made items one can find in Japan, I'd waited on making my own, hoping that I'd find a durable, securable roll for my tools while shopping on vacation. No luck.Thus, I was extremely happy to find this heavy-duty tool roll. It looked perfect for my purposes, and my only hesitation was whether the pockets would be wide enough to hold my wider trimming shears. The widest pocket does, perfectly (see below). The narrower pockets accommodate my various sizes of cutters and pliers.I am sharing the measurements the company provided in its very prompt reply to my e-mail requesting information on the size of the pockets:Overall size: 12 5/8" x 31 1/2"Pocket Depth: 5 5/8"Pocket width from left to right:#1: 3"#2-7: 2 3/4"#8: 3"#9: 3 3/4"#10 4 3/4"I also like that the roll has handles and adjustable buckles.UPDATE: Even after several years of use, this tool roll is still going strong. Purchased this for my husband--who now has fifteen bonzai requiring attention. The initial tool set he bought came in this oversized, zippered, "trapper-keeper" sorta thing--which of course was fabulous if you went to high school in the '80's--but it was a bit bulky when working in a small area...on tiny trees!He loves this thing! All his tools fit perfectly and securely. And it takes up very little room on the small table where he tends to his tiny trees.the end!

Strong, sturdy and holds all my bonsai tools snugly in one place. Excellent value.

Just what I was looking for at a reasonable price. Fits my Bonsai organizing needs just fine. Very pleased with it!!!

I bought this for bike tools, not gardening tools, and it works perfectly. Notes:* There's a flap you fold down over the open ends of the pockets before rolling it up, keeping everything in place.* There are two nylon straps for cinching it closed, though that seems like overkill; one of the straps is nearly aligned with the center of the bundle when rolled up and cinches it down securely on its own, so I cut off the second strap. (No regrets there.) I also cut off the looped handles for carrying it, since my panier bag will be carrying it.* I didn't need all 10 slots (this is my on-the-road tool bag), so I cut it down to 6 and hemmed the edge. Luckily, the wider slots are toward the end with the straps, so I was able to cut off the four narrowest slots and still cinch it shut.Rolled up with tools, it's certainly not the most compact kit I've seen, but the organization it allows and secure closure more than makes up for its bulk.

I bought this to use as a harmonica case, not really knowing how well it would fit. It does rather well, but is slightly too big - each harp fits completely down in the pocket so the roll is actually slightly too tall. On the other hand, that means the top flap can fold down completely over the lower pocket which really covers everything nicely and provides some extra protection. The buckles and handles are adjustable and are the plastic sort you see on camping gear. For my purposes they will hold up fine.I would have preferred a roll that left a bit of each harmonica sticking out so I could grab it but the pockets are wide enough that I can get a finger in to pull the harmonica out. It isn't as tough as a hard case, but I think this will do fine. It rolls up nicely and because you can adjust the straps, you can keep it snug no matter how many harps you have in it.So 5 stars for being well made and ample for my purposes, even though I'm using it for a purpose for which it wasn't intended.

I know it's not intended for this, but I was looking for a good make up brush holder and I have a TON of brushes that have thick handles and most makeup brush and even artist's paint brush holders only have a few of the bigger pockets, so I needed something with several large pockets. This not only fit all my bigger brushes, but fit everything else too! I couldn't believe it held all of my brushes!!!! :O I've been on the hunt for so long and even bought 2 similar products along with this to compare, and this was by far the best and fit the most. It's also very portable and rolls up easily. Perfect for travel!! I'm very pleased.
