Sunlite Side Pull Brake Set, 61-79mm Reach, Silver

I needed a replacement set of brakes for an old Kent Super Scooter whose brakes were shot. These brakes fit perfectly, were easy to install, and they work and look great. All the components are alloy steel so I expect that they should hold up well. At the price paid I would recommend these brakes to anyone.

Too small for my kids bike. Breaks dose not reach the rims. Would not fit 16" wheel or toddler bike. The breaks won't reach the rim but almost if it was 1/2 inch longer. I'm just using it as a wheel break to train my kids how to use it. Looks like good quality but I will probably do some adjustments to make it work.

Great value for the money. Took all of 5 minutes to install on my Electra Amsterdam.Other reviews indicate problems aligning the pads (even going as far as sanding them down?!), which I would attribute to user error. Generally when one side isn't applying evenly, you'll want to undo the center locking bolt and even out brakes from there. Afterwards, adjust the tension on the cable as necessary. Assuming both bolt holes are centered, the brakes will apply evenly.I marked the product down 1 star because the supplied levers have significant play from factory and are much shorter than expected (on a motorcycle we'd call these stubby levers). There's also no cable adjustment on the lever itself, which would've been nice to see.

I ordered these Sunlite caliper brakes for my daughter's 16" bike. Installation is very easy and straight forward. The calibration or setup of them is somewhat not if you aren't familiar with this style of brake. I've read of several people noting that the brakes only pull from one side. This will be the case if you do not adjust them properly. You need to use the center bolt/nut to adjust recoil on both sides of the caliper. Although they will inherently pull stronger on the cable side, you should be able to dial them in pretty well. Stopping power seems excellent so far and I expect it to improve once the pads wear in. I like how the levers are longer than many other, it gives my 6 year old more leverage to stop safer and easier. The standard cable adjustment screw makes it nice to adjust the lever pull, quickly, as the pads wear. Overall I am happy with these brakes.

After the brakes were on we were tightening the front brake and the nut sheered off. Apparently cheap metal and not good quality. I would not recommend getting this product.

They aren't the perfect brakes but they get the job done the pads work really well and I would recommend this to someone who wants bike brakes that are great quality And have a reasonable price

Great value and quality for my money easy to install

The over all function of the item seems fine but the main bolt for the front brake snapped while i was tightening it with a 6 inch x1/4 ratchet. Doesnt make me confident in the product when my childs saftey is a concern.
