I have also seen her in a concert hall since than that lucky night. A once in life time expericnce being up close. She was moving and powerful in either venue. Her recording captures her magical voice and i don't even know what she is singing about in her native language. I have become a big fan.

It's Mariza, the Fado singer, and then some :o) As close to perfect pitch as I have rarely heard.This album needs to be added to Amazon e-music!

I first heard Fado music while watching an episode of Rick Steves' travel show when he visited Portugal. It immediately caught my attention; the cafe singer who performed was captivating. Then I saw Mariza sing on the 'Tavis Smiley Show' on PBS. She was breathtaking! What a voice! I've been collecting her CDs ever since.

Highly recommended if you love or even just like fado.

This cd is famously. She is amixture of ethinivcities, but of such elegance, her voice is angelical. What a dream to hear her sing.....I can listen to her all day. I ghighly reccommend this cd. It arrived quicker then a blink of an eye. Marvelous!!!! So happy but this ois for a fellow Portuguese friend. So I don' get to keep it. But I chose this one oin particular because of the song..."Rosa Branca," which in "Portuguese means White rose. I think it is wonderful tht she is well known rthroughout the world!!! Iy's a must have to hear cd!!! Great seelers!!

I must admit, I bought this CD after a recent visit to Lisbon, where Mariza's music was playing in a souvenir shop at the fortress (I know, what a sucker). But hey, no regrets. This CD puts me right back in Lisbon, walking the streets of the Alfama district on a balmy summer night. Her voice is mesmerizing, and like others, the language barrier does nothing to sully your enjoyment of her music. Plus, a lyric sheet is included, so you can practice your Portuguese right along with the songs. From a fado amateur, this is a great CD.

Los amantes del fado disfrutarán del Cd , vender como DVD este producto , a mi modo de ver esta mal, supongo que el DVD que trae sea un extra, pero aún así la calidad de la imagen es pésima y la de sonido mala. Una pena ! Que la calidad artística , profesional, interpretativa de Mariza se vea tan mermada por la mala calidad técnica o de la producción ( estoy hablando del DVD) nada que reprochar al Cd.........Pero no se puede vender como DVD.

Amalia Rodriguesの呪縛から逃れられない人にはFadoではないように思えるのでしょう。ポルトガルの音楽も確実に変化してきて、New Fadoと言われる人たちも台頭してきています。そこまで過激ではなく、これからの自分のFadoの方向性を示したアルバムだと思います。Terraというタイトル通りFodoという狭い世界から、自分を解き放しFadoやポルトガル音楽の可能性を探る意味では興味深いアルバムです。これまでの、すごく上手いけれど重苦しい彼女の音楽世界からも脱却したように思います。今まで通りのFadoファンを満足させる部分と、このアルバムのあり方のような両方を手にすることで確実にMarizaの世界は広がるのでしょう。Saudadeは人それぞれ感じ方があるのでしょうが、アルバム中のCabo VerdeのTito ParisとのDuoはFadoのSaudade感とは違いますがMornaのSaudadeを十分感じさせるものです。彼女自体がSaudadeなのかもしれないと思ったりします。TradなFadistaは沢山います。それはそれで安心して、哀愁に浸れるのでしょうがPortugal,Cabo Verde,Brazilなどのポルトガル語音楽のなかでTradとModernを行き来するMarizaのSaudadeの在り方もまた楽しみではあります。

「マリーザ」とＷＥＢで検索するとイタリアンレストランとかカフェの名前がぞろぞろ出てくる。マリーザはモザンビーク生まれのポルトガル人で、ファド（民族歌謡）の歌手です。ファドといえばアマリア・ロドゲリスですが、もう故人だし、ファドは日本ではポピュラーにはならない。引退状態のちあきなおみが、ファドに興味があってレパートリーに取り上げていたようです。この間ＮＨＫの特番でやっていましたね。熱烈にちあきなおみ、マリーザというのではない。たまに思い出して聞いてみるとなかなかイイ、という感じです。
