Q: I am a stomach sleeper. when i wake in the morning i have lower back aches. will this help me? is it big and clumpy?

I find it very comfortable as a therapy but I have never tried to sleep on it because my doctor and physical therapist told me the worst thing I could do to my back AND NECK was to sleep on my stomach. If you are old enough that you don't expect to live very long and you are determined to remain a stomach sleeper then I believe this pillow might be something you could try. If it didn't seem comfortable enough for the whole night you might try it for the last half hour you are in bed. That might give your back enough of a break to feel better when you get up. If you are young and already having ANY back pain you might want to consider training yourself to sleep on your side or even back. I twisted my pelvis out of shape after getting in the habit of partial side stomach sleeping. It felt great to fall asleep but waking up was horrible. Doc and PT both said I had to sleep on my back. I researched how to train myself and using pillows to block my movement actually worked! I still sleep mostly on my side with pillow between knees and my arm around another pillow. But I am able to spend some time on my back in the middle of the night. My back feels much better!As for size it does seem big to me. I'm 5'7" and weigh 119. It's not clumpy if you mean soft. It's nice and firm and holds its shape. While it seems big to look at, it doesn't really seem big to lay on it. I have a neck issue also so I use it with the prone pillo. The combination makes a good therapy set but I wouldn't be comfortable to sleep like that all night!Good luck. Take care of your back. They haven't figured out how to do spine replacements yet!
