Nuclear Nightmares Do Come True
I am absolutely floored by the quality of this bass. I bought it sort of just for how cool it looks. I did not expect this quality for that price. It has some weight to it for one thing , not some cheap lightweight junk. The fretwork is perfect , it came setup just fine for me . It appears to have .45 gauge strings on it , which is okay by me. The neck is sort of a Jazz style neck which I didn't know it had. Nice and narrow up near the nut . I am a very average sized guy so the norrow nut makes it much easier to fret those low notes. The pickups sound good . The finish is flawless which I am shocked by for nowadays standards , there is usually something wrong with it coming from China . The last few lower end guitar I bought that came from China have cosmetic issues or sharp fret ends . Others from China did not have any issues though. The box it came in actually was open and the bass was not sealed properly in the original box nor was it placed back inside properly with the proper foam intact at the right spot, yet it made it here perfect. This bass has the feel of a real professional instrument and that I was not expecting and I'm approaching 40 years of playing guitar , bass and some drums.

Low string spacing, lots of crunch and grunt
This bass is a very good bass for the price! It sounds really great, and more aimed towards the rock bassist, or playing with a pick. The tone knob is very functional, dialing in between a nice bright slap tone, and a mellow 70's Motown sound. The fretboard is polyester (plastic) as opposed to rosewood or ash, but it allows for a very nice bright tone (think somewhere between a regular warm tone, and a bass with graphite neck). The polyester neck has been done successfully on several basses, and works really well on this green bass, as it's easy to use whatever color (as wood is limited in color). This bass has frets, and it sounds great slapping. If you're looking for a cheap slap monster that can also dial out some old school funk, this probably will be your monster! And what's more, the price,I can't believe that prices like this exist on a bass of this caliber! If I wouldn't know any better, I would say it sounds just as good as a $600 bass of a few years back!

awesome deal
I had a great experience with this purchase. I've been a musician for about 25 yrs now i own american fenders, a gibson paul and many other lower price axes. needed a simple good feeling, passive pickup bass to beat on the road for a few months. for his price I had my doubts, but I'm not a price snob and loved the bold look. It is still rocking strong. set up was very good right out of the box nicer than my merican fender in fact. a thin smooth neck, light weight, balanced and cool looking. I'm no spokesman for Dean... but for under three bills, they got this one righ

Don't waste your money- this is pitiful
This bass guitar is terrible. The nut is soft plastic, the string ate into the groove causing a buzz. When my son's music teacher tried to change the strings he noticed this, he stated that he had never seen a nut made of such soft material. Then when he removed the screw, or TRIED to remove it, it broke off in the head. Very cheaply made bass, I do not recommend this to anyone. If I could give 0 stars I would do so

Great bass. Love it. Would be perfect if it didn't take twice as long as it was supposed to.
Pros:Great BassVibrant color (not as bright lime green as picture shows but still awesome)Great PriceCons:Amazon. The bass is great. I've played a lot of basses, this is the first dean bass I've played however I really enjoy it. It's lightweight, sounds good, nothing wrong with it and overall great price. The only problem I had with it is the shipping. I'm an Amazon Prime member and it took twice as long (and a whole other order) to get the bass delivered. This is the second package they've had to re-ship. This generally wouldn't be a big deal however you can find the bass cheaper at Guitar Center. I was willing to pay more to get it shipped fast, however I wish I would've just drove or ordered it from Guitar Center.

A Good Bass for Under $200
This bass is a great addition for those who want to add some gaudy 80's flare to their collection or for those on a budget but just wanting a decent instrument. It did need a substantial bridge (saddle) adjustment out of the box in order for it to feel comfortable to me. I use a pick (yeah, yeah) and rest my hand on the bridge, with that being said the strings were way to high for my liking. The bass itself is sturdy but I do agree with another reviewer that the nut could be a little better quality. The color on the front is vibrant and looks great but on the back you can see it was just slightly under-sprayed, or not overlapped properly on the paint strokes (but as it rests up against the body no one will see that.) Only other negative for me (which isnt major) is that I wall mount all of my basses and guitars and due to the shape of the headstock certain wall hangers dont work as well as the bass sits crooked in them and look funny on the wall. It is still a very good instrument with a great rock sound and in my opinion is a fun bass for under $200. This is the fifth guitar I have bought from Amazon and again I have had no problems with packaging, shipment, etc.

It does the important things well
I wasn't sure what to expect from this bass. I like to play something before buying it, but I took a chance on this. It was worth it!The bass instantly became my new favorite instrument. The quality is better than expected. My only complaint is that the nut that screws onto the female jack came off when I unplugged it from the amp the first time. Others have said the same thing. I fixed it by cranking it down really tight. Others have suggested super glue. It doesn't hinder the bass in any way.The action is smooth. The sound is good quality. There aren't any dead notes or frets that buzz. The 20 frets are more than enough and as a bonus it came with decent strings so I haven't replaced them yet.I took a chance, got extremely lucky with this product, and could not be happier about my purchase.

Great for the price
Playys, feels and sounds pretty good for a less expensive model. I expected less. Very happy.
