Three excellent and good value pairs of dumbbells
I have recently bought a 10kg pair of these dumbbells. This follows the purchase of an 8kg and 6kg pair in 2021. Perhaps the fact that the 6kg now seem too light to be useful, shows the effectiveness of the earlier purchases! For many months before buying these, I used an old pair of York spinlock adjustable dumbbells. https://amzn.eu/d/8A5COgA They were solid and effective but unwieldy and uncomfortable to use. The spinlock mechanism would often loosen and the damn things roll across the floor when put down. I also found myself on edge about what might happen if they were to be accidentally dropped onto my floor or a vulnerable part of my anatomy! The Active Forever dumbbells are aesthetically pleasing, and functionally superior to any other dumbbell I have used. The proportions, shape and texture of the neoprene covering make them easy and comfortable to hold and the hexagonal shape means that they do not roll. They also provide a stable platform for floor exercises that require pushing down on them. There is one reservation that I have about their design. As the weight increases, so does the size of the dumbbell bar. Below is a summary of the three dumbbells that I own, giving diameter, circumference and length of the bar in millimetres of each:6kg - 42 - 138 - 1308kg - 44 - 144 - 13410kg - 48 - 156 - 138The increase in size is slight but significant. I do not find it a problem myself (I am a 175cm male, weighing 70kg) but I can imagine that it might be an issue for some, particularly if you have smaller hands or are a woman. Indeed, it was noticing this element of the design that made me hesitate to buy the 10 kg pair. The UMI dumbbells are very similar in overall design but keep the shape and size of the bar constant for all weights between 4 and 10kg (34 mm). https://amzn.eu/d/c2JDBUF This seems a wise move, but the UMI were £72 whereas the Active Forever were £60, so I went for consistency of design and price. The 6 and 8kg feel absolutely ideal to me and the 10kg a little harder to hold comfortably, but not problematically so.So definitely recommended but with the advice that you bear in mind the more consistent design of the UMI grip.

Pleasantly surprised
This was my first set of dumbells so I wasn't sure what to expect but as I wasn't going to an actual sports shop I just worried it wouldn't the right weight, or would be uncomfortable to hold. to my surprise it's true to size (weight) and it's textured so the grip is really secure. This was definitely good value for money

Very comfy to use
Loving these dumbells. I'm suffering from shoulders that like to almost shrug themselves, and I though that maybe if I strengthened my shoulders, it would help, as my muscles have been spasming during the day as a result.I'm 59yrs old and have moderate strength in my shoulders. This weight is perfect for my exercising, and seems to be making a difference. They don't slip - that's all I can really say. I'm very happy with them.

Comfortable to use
A decent set of weights, and a good upgrade from the 2kg I had been using.

Nice and compact but poor comfort level
These are decent dumbells but there is one major flaw. The bar on the dumbell is very thick. This means that even if you have good grip strength and large hands, your hands will start to ache after a relatively short period of use. These dumbells are not overly expensive bit not cheap either. So overall, in terms of value for money and comfort I wouldn't recommend them, especially if you intend use them for longer extended sets.
