Sidney Sheldon's Chasing Tomorrow

This book was NOT written by Sidney Sheldon
To clear up any confusion this book WAS NOT written by Sidney Sheldon. The author is Tilly Badshawe, who was asked to continue the series because of “her similar writing style” NO ONE compares to the great Sidney Sheldon. My problems start on page 11, it is mentioned that Max Googled someone. At this point of the book we are continuing right where we left off placing it in the mid to late 80s. Google wasn’t established until 1998. From that point on I found it hard to push forward. I felt like Tilly Bagshawe didn’t understand who the characters really were at their core and didn’t understand where the story was really coming from and where it was going. That came through in the writing. Almost every chapter has something written that completely takes me out of the story. Either with my being confused about the wayyyyy too detailed and unnecessary descriptions or with the dialogue being out of place for the characters I know so well. I have set this book down for weeks at a time trying to summon the energy to finish it- something I would have NEVER done with a Sidney Sheldon novel. Maybe Tilly Bagshawe is a great writer, I can’t speak on her other work, but this book is disappointing to say the least if you are a true Sidney Sheldon and Tracy Whitney fan. I recommend not reading If Tomorrow Comes right before it, it’s flaws will stick out even more, like a sore thumb. I would give yourself a few months between them.

Chasing Tomorrow
I’ve waited years for a sequel to one of my favorite books. This did not disappoint at all. It was just as gripping as the first. I love books that you can’t wait to get back to read. I only wish it was longer. I completely enjoyed it. I didn’t know there was a sequel. I was re-reading “if tomorrow comes” and saw the excerpt at the end. A wonderful surprise! I hope there will be more!

Beware of the imposture
For reasons I will never understand, this woman is writing under Sydney Sheldon's brand, using his trademark and his characters. Moreover, her books are deceitfully marketed as being written by him, which they are NOT. You need to be really attentive to see her name written in tiny font, while his name is written on the cover. This is completely outrageous. I gave the book two stars because it is not a completely unpleasant read, but her writing style has absolutely nothing to do with Sydney Sheldon. The plots are simplistic and a third-grader could write them; the characters are plastic - totally shallow, completely lacking in insight, while Sidney Sheldon's characters are full of life and emotion; the love scenes are nothing short of gross. I simply do not understand why Sheldon's family gave this impostor permission to continue his novels; I'm guessing it's for the money, but at least people should be aware of the imposture. If you want to sell cheap, simplistic so-called thrillers fine, just don't pretend they are something that they will never be. This is really outrageous!

Gandhi's Rewiew
Interesting and intriguing characters and everyone likes a con artist - somewhat sadistic and did not care for ending but kept my interest.

Nicely written
It is wonderful to see the lives of familiar characters continue, in a very close style to Sidney Sheldon's original. There are a few missed information, but too small to notice if the reader is not familiar with the places mentioned. There are somewhat a lot of brand-name droppings, but overall, the book is very nicely written, and if you cannot put the book down, or look forward to continue the reading, it only means thumbs up to the writer. Thank you! A very enjoyable read indeed. I will most probably get the third installment.

Not like the original but not that bad either
The original book is one of my all time favourites so when I found this I had to buy it. My expectation wasn’t high to begin with so maybe that’s why it gets a four star rating. Some parts irritated me, but all in all it was an entertaining read. She brings back some characters from the original which is nice but also nothing new to those who know the original story inside out :)

Excellent book
I loved this book! I read all the time, usually a book a day or a book in two days. Sidney Sheldon and Tillie Bagshawe write thought provoking novels. I am trying to read every one I can find. I even re-read them!

Action filled
Chose this book because I love Sidney Sheldon,s books. The book kept your interest until the end, but you had to wait too long for the reunion. I shocked me when jeff was still alive, but then after all those years and pain, they part again. I don,t like books that keep you guessing how they end jeff was his father and he should have been able to tell his son who he was. I did not like the ending.

Good story
Good light read and easy to read. Bit far fetched at times but still believable. Did they ever meet again?.
