Best snail trap with bait for aquariums
This snail trap is superior to other similar "looking" traps on Amazon. This one sinks properly to the bottom of the tank. It also includes snail bait (algae pellets). Plus it's available direct from amazon and you don't have to wait weeks for it to be shipped from China.I only bought one of these and four of the cheaper ones. I barely use the cheaper ones and use this one all the time.

Doesn't work :(
The media could not be loaded. Save your money as this product, sadly, does not work. I had ordered plants (elsewhere) several months ago and literally the day after they arrived, I was in a wreck. No hospital stay but to say I was hurting like crazy would be an understatement so the plants stayed put in the box they came in for an extra day or two. When I knew that I had no choice but to get the plants in the tank, I was hurting to much to do the usual 1 part bleach:1 part water plant bath to ensure there were no snail eggs so of course I ended up with a HUGE snail infestation. I stopped feeding my fish and shrimp in an attempt to starve off some of the snails but they simply turned to eating all of my plants, including the new ones 😫.There has to be well over 100 snails in my tank with only a piece or two of plant life left so I purchased this with the hopes that it would work. It does not. I followed the directions and well, you can see in the picture that only 1 snail happened to be on a rock I had to put in the tray to hold it down (as the trap would not sink on it's own) but that was the only snail that was 'caught'. I even purchased an extra trap (the smaller one) and it also 'caught' zero snails as is shown in the video. Think I'll take the few fish I have along with my shrimp and shove them into my little 3 gallon with a prayer that they survive while I simply put bleach in my 40 gallon and start over.

Works As Intended
This snail trap works well for those prolific bladder snails that can quickly take over a planted aquarium. This device is simple to use, sinks to the bottom, is easy to retrieve, twist open and reload with more bait. It took a few days for the snails to be attracted to it. Once they found it I have been able to clear out a lot of snails. The snails flick off easy enough. I put them into a glass jar with a little bit of water and fill it quickly with boiling water to annihilate them as fast as possible. The snail bait that is provided works, but I found that the algae wafers that I have to feed my mystery snail seems to attract the bladder snails a little better, though not by much. It was worth the purchase for me.

Works, but may not solve your problem
We have pond snails in our aquarium that were inadvertently introduced from plants we added and we bought this hoping to control the *rapid* population growth. The plastic is fragile and broke in transit. A little CA super glue fixed that. The provided bait does attract the snails, but it isn't really a "trap". The snails can leave it easily. So, you have to remove and clean it daily to have any effect. It's not really possible to eliminate the snails with this. Still using it for now, but we are looking for a better way to deal with the problem.

No suction power!
I had to use that title since it was an option for this review. I don't know how Amazon's algorithms figured that one out, but after a lengthy inspection and a few PowerPoints I've determined that no suction is needed for this snail trap.I've only used it once and it seems to work okay. As you can see from the pic, Amazon stuck the bar code label over the English instructions (the other side was in Chinese), so I had to wing it and figure out how much bait to use because there's no instructions inside the box. I might try sticking some cucumber in there next time I order a salad somewhere, since people have been saying aquarium snails are attracted to cucumbers. They repeat on me, so I'm sure tossing some in a fish tank is a viable option.

I got this to solve my aquarium snails, but I have seen no results. Very disappointed!

It works!
So this really works! The string was a little bit of a pain to get into the top but otherwise this thing is great. What ever the bait is, well it really attracts the snails. Before this I was basically wasting my shrimp food lolly sticks - the snails loved the sticks but after a day the food would get soft and when I pull the stick out and try to get the snails off...I'd lose quite a bit of food. So I come to find this trap and it's awesome!I set it up before going to bed and woke up with a trap full of snails. Pulled it out, cleaned them off and put it back simple. Now it's not actually a trap but it attracts the snails and they just chill there trying to get the food. 3x now and I got rid of at least 100 snails. I got an infestation from a live plant I purchased and was completely over run. It's taken me probably 2 weeks to get rid of the same amount as a day and a half with this trap. When I take the trap out of the fish tank I lower it into a gallon size bag and just slap the trap from the outside of the bag and the snails all get knocked out into the bag for easy clean up.Plenty of bait in a recloseable bottle so you can save it for later if needed.

This is not a trap
Let me give you a comparison. My wife has been my snail hunter for a while now but when we saw this we assumed she could retire. We have had this for a little over a week now, my wife's snail count during that time period was 600 plus snails the so called trap was just under a dozen. This actually does not trap the snails as they can crawl in and out at their leisure. You have to keep an eye on it and when the snails or snail move onto it you need to pull it up and remove the snail at that time. I would not recommend this. I gave it 2 stars as it did attract a few snails.
