Nice, compact, and lightweight.
I took it out of the box and plugged it in; no charge, had to be plugged in. Very easy to get started. I like the weight of the unit really well. Very light feeling and it is made of plastic so I will have to be very careful with it. The display is matted and VERY NICE. The unit feels sturdy and comfortable. The keyboard is smaller than a full keyboard but I believe I will be comfortable with that before too long. I own a desktop and a 15 inch laptop with larger displays and larger keyboards and getting this 11.6 inch unit is smaller and a bit of a shock but, that is why I got it - Small, compact and light. I will be using this for school and browsing the internet so It will be traveling in my backpack. I feel very comfortable with this unit and it seems perfect for my needs. The delivery was quick and that is great. My only complaint at this time is that the power cord connection to the computer seems a little flimsy. I will have to watch it carefully when plugged in. The storage memory is too small too. Thirty-two GB goes really fast. Especially when the OS uses a little more than half. I've added three pics of the computer with the Case Logic 11.6" Netbook Sleeve (Model QNS-111) which works really well with this computer. Keep in mind the case is NOT WATERPROOF and there are no storage pockets for memory sticks or a power cable. It is made with ventilation for the computer so it can be used while in the case. I like this match a lot.

Great for what it is, but not a "full" Windows laptop replacement for most users
I really like the way Acer is willing to build low-cost mid-spec laptops. I love their Chromebooks so when my wife needed a laptop to run Windows for a couple of simple functions only, this Acer Cloudbook seemed like a good choice. And for that purpose, it is. It does exactly what it claims to do, and does it very well. It runs Windows 10 (home edition) and has enough juice to run most basic Windows apps just fine. With its small drive size it is designed, like a Chromebook, to be a primarily online machine rather than a full stand-alone Windows OS computer. The difference between a Chromebook and a "Cloudbook" Windows laptop like this, though, is both about the OS and because of the OS. Obviously, if you need to run Windows applications you need the Windows OS, and this gives you that. But a Chromebook (runs Google's Chrome OS, a very slim operating system based on Google's Chrome Web browser) is all about working online and its operating system is so skinny that even relatively low-spec hardware can run it without any performance lag. Windows isn't Chrome OS in that respect. It needs a certain amount of power and capacity to run well, and this laptop just meets that need with little to spare. If you need a low cost laptop running WIndows, and mostly use it for light application use and online access, this is a great little package at a great price point. If you need to run many Windows applications or several at a time, you might want to consider something with higher specifications.

Already lovin' it!
Read the reviews and the Q & A . . . what do you expect from this device? Delivered this afternoon and it's being used to write this review. It's lightweight and the keyboard sounds a bit hollow as one types. Compared to the Switch 11 and Switch 10, I don't need to be concerned with the keyboard detaching from the screen! The materials used are not flimsy, just lightweight. The screen resolution is great and the audio much better than expected. The touch pad functions well and I haven't had a problem with left/right clicks. [If you are not familiar with this type touch pad, be sure to use the left upper corner (next to keyboard) for left click and the right lower corner (away from keyboard) for right click). For cursor movement use center of the pad.] The external D-drive and wireless mouse that I purchased for my original Acer Aspire 11.6 computer work well (all purchased from Amazon). Thumb drive works well for information transfer and storage. Game time for grandchildren will remain with the Kindles!Setup was the easiest ever . . . added Aol desktop 9.8.2 and McAfee. Time? Thirty minutes from box to Internet and email access. This Cloudbook is user friendly for email and browsing access for me. All information from Windows OneDrive was transferred during setup.I've been 'playing' with it for the last six hours (yes, 6 hrs) and it's accomplished all that I've asked including streaming from my Amazon video library. If it's stored to Amazon Cloud or Win 10 OneDrive it isn't taking up storage space on the device. As far as I'm concerned, it's an inexpensive Cloudbook that offers more than I expected from some of the reviews. I have noticed that the keyboard changes for the better with use . . . it actually becomes more touch sensitive. Really liking this device . . . the more I use it the more I like it!Think about your usage expectations. This isn't intended as a gaming machine but it is user friendly for students and business on the go![Two week update: an OoPs incident occurred (parties involved will remain unidentified) and it was dropped about four feet onto a hard floor. It was open and I really thought it would have to be replaced. Unscathed! There was no damage to screen, case or function (not recommend!!)! This should be a good choice for a first computer if gaming ability is taken into consideration. Loads quickly and definitely user friendly!]
