A little too introspective for my almost 4 yr old grandsons
I looked high and low for this book, my friend's grandkids aaked to be asked often. But they are 7 and up. My not quite fours not really interested. Maybe too young for pondering. They're just getting used to questions that have answers already!

encourages conversations
i gave this as a gift to my niece who turned five. their family now uses it on a nightly basis at the dinner table to encourage discussion and conversations about topics that might not otherwise be discussed. my own little guy isn't quite 1 yet, but i plan to buy this for our family sometime in the next few years.

Ask me
The questions and illustrations are superb, however not culturally correct for the American classroom. I liked the questions because are child oriented but many of them are not appropriate for classroom use.

Maybe not a great choice for children who are adopted
We found this book at the library. It is a great way to engage children and adults in conversations that are really thought provoking. My 8 year old enjoys reading the questions to everyone and gets excited when he can't predict our answers. My 4 year old loves to join in with the very first thing that she thinks about, but she's starting to give more thoughtful answers as we move through the book.My concern is about the pictures, more than the questions. I wanted to give this to a friend who has adopted children. "How did your parents choose your name?" is a lovely question, but seeing a picture of a pregnant mother is just not something that *has* to go with name choices. There are a few other references to "traditional" families. There are also references to Christianity. So, heads up, this may or may not be a good fit for kids you know.

Ask Me book
I love the whole premise of this book. Time spent with your child and getting to know them even better through the many questions that are in the book. What a great way to spend time with a child.

amazing book that helped while away some potentially long boring drives on holiday
Fantastic launch board for kicking off really interesting discussions with your kids - we've had some great chats abound family history, our own childhoods, their perception of us and our lives etc etc. the pictures are really engaging as well,
