Works great with my Cardo Scala Rider Q2
I ride. mostly the commute to work but sometimes on mc camping trips. I like to have something to listen to on the longer trips. My Q2 does fine for radio in the local area but is a pain to find stations while out on the road. My mp3 player can hardly be heard when plugged into the Q2 and all volumes turned up to max, so I bought this Boostaroo R234 and it is fantastic. I can set volume to mid point and have plenty of sound so I can now listen to my music on the road. I use earplugs while riding also and this allows me to hear my music easily through the plugs. I just plug my Q2 cable into one of the side ports on the Boostaroo and then plug my mp3 player into the end port to turn it all on, set the music and place it all in my riding jacket inside vest pocket. To turn it off I just unplug the mp3 player cord from the end port. What could be easier than that! I highly recommend this item for this kind of use. This unit comes with 2 pairs of AAAA batteries (yes, those are 4A batteries), one set inside the unit already. I understand similar sized batteries may be obtained by taking apart a name brand 9V battery. I did also order the 6 pack of AAAA batteries listed as a suggested bundle with this item. I think it will take me a long time to use those up. I've used this on one camping trip so far, over 4 hours each way as well as another 3 hours riding time while there, and also a little riding around town. I am still on the original first pair of batteries. I keep the second pair in my tank bag. This unit is listed as lasting 40 hours on one set of batteries so I should have a few more trips before I need to replace them. My mp3 player goes about 50 hours on a charge so this setup works out well together.

Bring Some Life to Your Earphones!
I recently bought these and as soon as I recieved it I plugged it into my laptop (comes with AAAA batts.) with a pair of those top model V-Moda earphones (I recommend 'em for good quality and price). Yes, There is a hiss. Why? Because these V-Modas have an Impendance of about 16ohms I believe. This amp works best with ear/headphones with an Impendance between 20-200 ohms. So if your getting a hiss that's likely the case. But the volume of the music does drown that out & reveals details previously unheard without an amp. I detected background sounds when listening to NIN that I never heard before! The drums on Tool's "The Grudge" sounded deeper, extended & like completely different type of drums! Voices were more present and life-like. Just remember to find out your earbud or headphone Impendance beforehand, and if you music is downloaded at a low bitrate (below 320kbps)on your device your gonna lose detail and depth. If your listening to a CD player no worries, but if you have crappy earphones your going to find out quickly that you need to upgrade; such as the low quality earbuds that come with Ipods and Discmen. They are not flawless as there are high quality portable amps like HeadRoom's, but a good bargain to bring considerably more life to your music.

Works as designed
I purchased this after already owning an original Boostaroo. All I can say is that this device works exactly as designed. After using both units for some time now, I prefer the original Boostaroo to this version. The original version uses the more common AA batteries and contains an ON-OFF switch; both features that I like.If I were ever in the market for another Boostaroo, I would purchase another original model, not this one; not because there is anything wrong with this model.... I just prefer the original.

Good Amp!
*I bought it to boost the volume in my full-face motorcycle helmet, and it did. Here is the setup I'm using: iPod Shuffle and Thumper helmet speakers. At about 75%, the distortion becomes noticeable, but the speakers are pretty low-end and are probably to blame.*Bottom line, it boosts the volume very well. Before the amp, it was unintelligible at 100% volume as the shuffle is pretty weak. I brought it up to about 80mph with tons of wind noise, and could still hear it pretty well! No buyers remorse!*It's a bit bulky compared to some other amps in a similar category, such as FiiO products. That's my only small gripe.

The Boostaroo R234 is absolutely awesome!
It all began after I bought a Asus Nexus tablet. After using it a couple times it became very apparent that the tablet hadn't much volume to the sound. After trying a few supposed sound enhancers from Google store that never worked, I purchased the Boostaroo on amazon hoping that it would help. To put it mildly, the Boostaroo R234 has been absolutely awesome. Although small and compact, it delivers clean powerful push to all my audio. So much so that I can now use my Studio Koss headphones to watch movies. Wow!!!!! I love it.One thing though, the unit needs AAAA batteries. These are not easy to find. Order your batteries from amazon when you buy the unit. Another way to get AAAA batteries is by ripping off the top of a Duracell 9 volt and pulling the AAAA batteries out.

If you're having problems with your audio, you should definitely buy this!
I am a legal transcriptionist and therefore my ability to hear and/or to adjust the audio is tantamount to my ability to type which directly affects my ability to make money! I was having a lot of problems with the audio on my computer and it was suggested to me that I find an audio booster. After much researching on the internet, I came across this gadget. Now, I have to be honest and say that I really didn't think this item would help me much but in actuality, it helped me immensely! I am so happy with it!

Louder, but Noisier
This device certainly boosts the volume a great deal, but also adds noticeable hiss when turned up. The placement of the device is also critical, because the hiss increases when near other electrical equipment. The included instructions state that "For the best results, the headphones you use should have an impedance of about 60-120 ohms." Good luck - the cheapest headphone set I could find in that range is the sixty-dollar Audio-Technica ATH-M30et (65ohms); most are 24ohms and under.
