Berries full of phyto-nutrients - these are well produced and clean.
Good, clean, well dried Elderberries from Eastern Europe, where most of our dried elderberries seem to come from these days. These berries are fine - they've been properly dried, full of antioxidants, the anthrocyanins give a fabulous colour to elderberry cordials, syrups, teas and wine. Although these would be perfect for home made Elderberry wine, I mostly use these as infusions sweetened with a bit of honey to alleviate coryza symptoms, as a decongestant and to help with digestive disorders. They've got Immunostimulant and anti-inflammatory properties which makes them particularly useful for winter viruses, sore throats and chills. This order doesn't have a harvest date, but does have a BBD of 12/2019.There is naturally quite a lot of tannin in elderberries which might account for any dryness or astringency, and these dried berries shouldn't be eaten without being soaked or cooked first.I think these are as good as any I've used, and an awful lot better than some (including my own).I get most of my dried Botanicals from here as I trust this company. Decent quality products, simple packing and no ripoff pricing.Ideal.

Dreadful taste
Gets a star because I can't give zero which is what this product deserves. First review, no swearing or inappropriate language was filtered out. Avoid, do not buy and if you are in UK, go pick fresh instead. I have been using elderberries for wine and syrup for a dozen years so my expectation is realistic, these are not fit for purpose. Had to ditch a couple of gallons of what had been intended to be wine. Totally disappointed.

Be prepared for the stench!
These smelled TERRIBLE. I have never known elderberries like this! Our house STUNK for an entire week, like really really sweaty socks, that had been left to fester. We added oranges and cloves to the elderberry syrup to try and overpower the scent but nothing worked. We ended up throwing away what we made, and the excess berries.

but I am not happy with the product at all
Sorry, but I am not happy with the product at all. I have used Elderberries before and this did not smell like Elderberry at all. Tried making some cordial out of the berries and where hoping the smell would disappear when cooked but, no chance. The Elderberries had a very distinctive metallic smell and it was horrible. Very disappointed and would not buy it again.

I buy to make elderberry syrup - these seem to leave my house smelling like wet dog & they taste very bitter
I am sorry to say that after giving the product a few chances, it has continued to be disappointing. I buy to make elderberry syrup - these seem to leave my house smelling like wet dog & they taste very bitter. Nothing like brands I have used previously.

Love It!!!
We always have elderberry in the form of syrup and also with our homemade kombucha so you can see we indeed love this product and can't do without it because it prevents us from getting flu or cold. Even when we get the flu, it disappears within 3 days because of the elderberry.
