Terrific Budget Amp!
This integrated amp is excellent! Although it's just 25 watts, it has a very powerful sound with deep and rich bass, natural and smooth midrange, and clear treble with just enough sparkle to keep me very happy. Am assuming that this is a high current design as it COMMANDS the single 8" woofer in each of my speakers. Am amazed that such a seemingly low-powered amp can effortlessly produce such impressively deep and articulate bass. Also, when on but not playing audio, the background is dead quiet (i.e. no hum or static). The volume knob is exceptionally smooth and the loudest I've ever had it is just shy of the two o'clock position -- enough to uncomfortably overload my ears. The bass and treble controls add plenty of bass and treble, and the balance is spot-on at the 12 o'clock position. It would be fantastic to have a remote with at least power and volume controls, but I knew going into this that it was void of this highly desirable feature. Also, the dim white (when off) and bright white (when on) LED power button really should be blue (when on) and red (when off). Despite this, we buy amps for the sound, and the AXA25 sounds terrific, especially for its low price (for a class AB amp)!

No-one needs hundred of watts! Tone and balance are important controls.
It's a handome piece of tech. My only complaint was the rather odd speaker terminals. There are better, simpler, ones around. These will only take bare wires, which sort of diappear down the hole. But they worked (eventually). This replaced a 50-year-old homemade Heathkit (sadly bit the dust on one channel). The sound is spectacular, driving a pair of old but good Radio Shack bookshelf reflex speakers in my mancave/woodshop. For my environment the tone and balance controls are essential, and they're getting pretty rare. (Bozos who can't understand what those controls are for are obviously in a perfect listening room and have perfect hearing. Neither of those applies to me.)My shop is about 450 sq ft and I haven't been past 12 o'clock on the volume knob even with Saint Saens' organ finale. 2x25 watts is ample. I would think that, with efficient speakers, this would be good for an 800 sq ft room. One thing it doesn't have is an output for a driven subwoofer. I don't need that for my purpose.Excellent stuff. Not cheap, but very good value. Thoroughly recommended. JJ

Great basic amp for a bedroom
The sound quality is pretty good considering the price and you would never know it’s only 25 Watts.Very basic unit with plastic knobs and minimal features. But that does not matter to me as I never use bass or treble adjustments.Perfect for a bedroom. Clean modern look.

A Good Sounding Basic Amplifier
This is a very good sounding amplifier if you only need 25 wpc you are set. I have been listening to this amp for almost two months now. It has a nice full sound and sounds better than my Onkyo A20 it has replaced. Be aware the Bass and Treble controls only have 5.5 db of cut or boost. Some amplifiers have 8db of cut or boost. I have my bass control at 2:00 o'clock and treble set flat. This provides plenty of bass to my Polk RT600 speakers. Sound is detailed and the damping factor of 50 allows the amplifier to control speaker excursion easily. Binding post on the amplifier makes speaker connection easy. If you use bare wire just take care not to have any stray strands of wire touching keep it neat. At this price point I have nothing bad to say about this amplifier. Also this amplifier does not come with a remote as some have complained about you have to get off your behind to change settings no big deal. Another thing is this has no phono pre amp so if you want to use a turntable you will either need a TT with built in pre or a external one. To get a better sounding amplifier you would have to spend more than twice what this cost. Up Date I see some complaints about this amp going into standby to quickly when idle. To defeat this annoying feature you need to hold the power button in for 5-6 seconds and it will stay on at idle much longer. Also a two color or just a LED that lights up when on would have been nice.

Excellent amplifier with one annoying feature.
I bought this AXA-25 amplifier to match the AXC-35 CD player I had previously purchased for a stereo system in my workroom/bedroom. They both serve my needs very well and I have no complaints about their sound quality. Both units are also more aesthetically pleasing than most modern stereo equipment. I have rated the amplifier four stars instead of five because it is impossible to tell visually if it is turned on or in a pointless "standby mode." The LED on the power button is constantly on when the unit is plugged in. I don't think I've ever seen such a useless or annoying feature on an otherwise excellent product. I installed a power strip with individual switches for each outlet on the wall next to my stereo setup so I can easily turn both the amplifier and the CD player (which also has this standby mode) completely off when I'm not using them. Both units also have an "automatic power down" feature which is as pointless as standby mode but which fortunately can be turned off. I fail to see what is wrong with simple on/off switches.

Wow. Great sound.
I have had various Cambridge Audio products in the past and have had problems with quality--specifically, three of them just stopped working (one with a puff of smoke for emphasis)--and the repair cost was just not worth it.So it was with some hesitation that I ordered this amp yesterday. But the price was just too good. And I must say that I am very happy with the sound. I listening now to Bill Evans' Portrait in Jazz and the sound is full and crystal clear.I'm using the amp in my basement workroom and so I do not need a lot of power.Fingers crossed that the amp keeps working.
