Secret History of the Atomic Bomb

One more star than it deserved.
I expected better from the National Geographic. It spent its opening on criticizing Israel to the point of being anti-semitic. The stock footage of nuclear blasts consisted of repeated renditions of the Trinity gadget on 16Jul45 and mislabeling the underwater detonation (Crossroads series, the second of two) of a bomb almost identical to the Trinity and Nagasaki bombs. The Crossroads event took place in '46, five years before thermonuclear testing began. The "documentary" cherry-picked information, most of which was questionable and misleading. Not recommended at all. The PBS movie entitled Hiroshima and Trinity and Beyond: The Atomic Bomb Movie are infinitely better choices. The copy of the National Geographic offering is going into the S-can lest returning it would allow it to be sold to another unsuspecting soul. I will never buy anything emblazoned with the National Geographic logo again.

Best doc, and I've seen dozens of others.
The best most-up-to-date documentary about nuclear weapons proliferation. Interviews with top experts like Rhodes. Story of spies, all of them. Men who sold out humanity for their nation and just to make money. Japanese bomb project. History of closest calls. Grim truth everyone should see.
