Bite & Release Paperback – June 2, 2014

This is the first book I have read from this author and OMG I can’t wait to read her other book Reviving Haven now.I have to say this book really showed me something. I have always told my daughter there is no way I would ever be a cougar. Okay let me give you a little back history (quickly) we were staying in a hotel in Orlando for a softball tournament for my daughter, needless to say so were a whole bunch of very young, very hot, muscle bound, nicely built, tattooed men who were minor leaguers for the Astro’s in for training. Well as we were walking in a group of 5 of them were walking out and they started to chat with me, yep with mom, these 20 something’s were talking with this 40 something, (okay 47 I won’t lie lol) and if I had a camera, no a video camera of the look on my daughters face Funniest Home Video’s would be paying me that $10,000. Yep jaw wide open, drool coming out and complete and utter shock that they were talking to mom the 47 year old and not the daughter, the 17 year old. I mean after all she is fit, young and beautiful (I am totally biased lol) she was like OMG mom they were hitting on you – go for it. Thus my comment I am so not into the whole cougar thing but I am so into looking at and eye devouring hot, young, built, tattooed, gorgeous men LOL.Well this story is similar. You have the older woman and the younger guy. But there is a lot of back story in this one. There is a lot of hurt, pain, twisted agony and love. Deep seeded love. And it just grabbed me. I fell in love with Andrew aka Shea (of which I will use here out) This man was gorgeous on the outside and one amazingly endless tattoo to die for. But broken and angry inside. Then there is Ryan, ran away from home to make something of herself, leaving her past behind because for her it was a horrible life.Ryan comes back home when she learns of her father’s death, but not just because of that, she is running, running from her current life. Married to Garrison a man who abuses her horribly and every time she tries to escape he finds her. But she knows he would never think of home, she detests home, loathes it, so she knows she can be safe here even if for a little while. What she doesn’t expect is her reaction to Shea. The little boy she used to babysit, who would get on her nerves and even went so far as to bite and mark her for life has turned into a walking wet dream. No lying there ladies. Hell look at the cover and then read about Shea and you will know I am telling the truth. I would become a cougar for this guy. LOLWell Ryan battles those feelings, how can she possible be anything more than a friend with Shea, she babysat him for god sake, he is so much younger than her. Little does she know Shea made a vow when he was 8 years old, and that vow never went away. And he was going to do whatever it took to make her his. Not in a bad way lol but OH MY MY in a good way for sure. Like I said I would become a cougar for this guy.They both have a past, they both have hurts, they both have demons, but when they finally get together it was like they were meant to be together forever. Of course, what’s a story without some struggle and they have them. There are some real back woods twists in this one and I was screaming OH MY GAWD NO THIS CAN’T HAPPEN. And then OH MY GAWD LET ME KICK THAT BIOTCH CARRIES ARSE.The side characters Trina and Quinn are amazing, Trina and Shea’s mom is a real piece of work. Lord what that woman did and was doing to herself. Then Carrier the disgruntled “ex of sorts” girl – always one of those around isn’t there. And then there is Garrison. I won’t say who he is you have to read but let me just say. This man needs to be castrated. Plain and Simple!! ‘nuff said…I was laughing through this book at Ryan’s constant inner struggle, and aweing when Shea would tell her how he felt and ohhhing and fanning myself during those special scenes yeah you know the sex ones. LOL and constantly cheering them on. I love a HEA and yes this book has one. A very good one.Okay off to buy the other book now I really have to read it. It just might make me re-think my cougar thing ROFL.

I loved this book! I was initially captivated by the cover and the blurb…title not so much, but when I read the story I completely understand how the title means so much to the story. Andrew “Shea” has loved Ryan since he was 8 years old. Ryan moved away to New York City when she was 21 years old to pursue her dreams of acting. Those dreams didn’t pan out the way she thought they would and she now finds herself back in Fairbanks, Alaska. When Shea was 8 years old he had an issue with biting. When he learned that Ryan was leaving, he bit her and in return she bit him. They both have the scars to show they are bonded for life.Thirteen years have now passed and Ryan is 34 years old. She is returning to her hometown to bury her father and finding an escape. This was the perfect time to run from her abusive husband, to whom she has been married to for 5 years. Shea is no longer the bratty 8-year-old boy that Ryan once babysat. He is now 21 years old and is studying to be a veterinarian. He has done well with his life considering the abuse he had to endure as a child from his father. He almost didn’t survive the last attack. Shea went through a dark phase in order to cope with the abuse. He used alcohol, drugs, and sex as an escape. Shea has been having sex since he was 13 years old.When Ryan sees a tall, dark and handsome man at the funeral she has no idea who he is but is soon rendered speechless when she finds out who he is…”I had just been eye-f*cking the kid I used to babysit.”Shea has been holding onto hope that one day Ryan would return home and see him not as the boy she used to babysit, but as a man who is worthy of being loved. Shea’s attempts at having Ryan see him as this man are unsuccessful.Quote: “I’m laying down the torch I’ve carried for thirteen years. I actually dreamed about this moment for years, and I honestly thought that if you saw what I had become you might want me, but I can’t force you. I can’t make this happen, regardless of how much I want it to.”Shea’s heart has been shattered by Ryan not once, but now twice in his life. He is utterly defeated. My heart hurt for him. Ryan wants Shea, but she cannot get past the huge age gap between them, that she used to babysit him, and the fact that she is still married. I have to admit that I rarely am able to read a book cover to cover without taking a peek at the end. For some reason I decided I was not going to peek and I was going to ride the wave of angst. Hours after I finished this book I was still feeling my stomach hurting. Shea and Ryan’s story touched a part of my heart and soul and it continued to remain. So what did I do?...I went back to re-read the story! They are stuck in my mind! I can’t say enough good things about this book. The hotness factor alone is 5 stars! The love that Shea carried for Ryan all those years is unfathomable. Shea is an enigma, and one that deserves to be discovered. He hurts, he loves, and he holds strong when the walls are crashing down around them. There is no wrong age when it comes to love even at the age of 8 years old.

3.5 starMY REVIEWI liked this book and the fact is was set in Alaska, it show cased the cold beauty of this very under used setting i think.My other like about this book was the age of the main characters 34 year old Ryan and a 21-year old Shea. Most books are set around characters the same age or the heroine is younger than the hero, this was a nice switch up.I loved loved loved Shea as a character both as a child and as a man, he was always a hero in my eyes but then i learned the reason behind his beautiful tattoos he melted my heart at his true heroism. He really made this book in my opinion.Roller coaster ride of emotions is an under statement i felt crushed at one point in this book, the total relief gosh i was a wreck.What i didnt like so much about this book was, Ryan tells her best friend not to keep secrets from her husband, yet she keeps the fact she's still married to her abusive husband from Shea, double standards anyone? Also the fact that Ryan had a constant need to remind us that she was 34! My hubbie is 11 years older than me so what. For Shea Michaels 13 years. 13 years of dreaming about the one person you decided to marry at the age of eight.I love that this story is older woman/younger man it's so refreshingly different. Ryan battles with the fact that she used to babysit him but immediately she saw him after 13 years she could deny the immediate reaction to seeing him as a man. But she's running away from her past, will she be able to let it go? Will her past come back to haunt her?I love the plot every time that there seems to be a happily ever after moment something else comes along to put a spanner in the works.If you love a good true love story with lots of twists then this is for you

Ryan chase is a young 21 year old girl who lives in Alaska and wants nothing more than to get away from her home town fairbanks and persue her dreams of becoming an as actress. She used to baby sit her best friends brother Shea Michaels, he was only 8 when she left. So when running from her abusive husband to Return home 13 yrs later for her father's funeral and best friends wedding to find at her fathers wake Shea Michaels she once seen as this little boy into a stunning, handsome grown sexy man. Wow she can't believe her eyes and at first didn't realise it was him then felt guilty and disgusted at herself for thinking that way of him when she realized it was Shea. Ryan just couldn't help the connection she felt towards him even if it did feel wrong.Shea Michaels knew from when he was eights years old he was going marry Ryan chase. He even told her father he was going to marry her. He was devastated when she left. Shea's father was an alcoholic and would beat him and his mother.This book had me gripped from the second chapter. I loved the characters and the story line had me like hell no this cant be happening. It did have me shocked and emotional at times and the sex was hot and amazing. I hope you love Shea and Ryan's story just as much as I did. Also the book cover is to die for. Drooling loads lol

I could not put this down! First off i thought the hot guy on the cover was a brilliant choice!! I loved the story & the characters. It also struck me as a bold choice to have the male lead be the younger one in the relationship, I loved this fact as usually the male is older and this is quite refreshing little quirk. I dont want to give any spoilers or ruin the plot but if you are looking for a read that will keep you up into the small hours you wont be disappointed!!

Loved this cover! How hot! The book had a lot to live up to and it did,the guy on the cover did become Shea to me, I need to get me one of those! I dropped a star because sometimes the dialogue got a little too cheesy, which made it less real, I also think the events at the end needed spacing and slowing at one point I thought there must be a sequel as it couldn't possibly be all resolved in what was left. But I still thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely look for more from this author.
