Great Addition On Windy Days
I normally keep it hanging behind my head but on windy days it's very nice to have something that is unobtrusive become a hat saver .I got black to match the black colored Oiled cotton hat and it matched perfectly. Installing took under a minute and as I said it normally hangs out the back and doesn't interfere with anything or is even noticed but when the wind picks up, like just before a storm , I just lift the hat , cord falls forward , put the hat back down , pull the cord under my chin . It made my hat go from a rain only hat to one I can wear even during a storm.

Fantastic Customer Service
While my original order did not arrive (only ripped and taped packaging did), Oztrala responded quickly and resent my item. It arrived today. Outstanding! Best customer service I've seen, EVER.

Oztrala Chin Strap
It's very thin cord it is only about 2mm thick . It looks , and feels fragile . I Should have made my own , I still may do this . I eventually did .

fragile strap tears like paper; you'll not even get 1 use out of it!!!!
Got this chin strap to use with my Aussie hat. This is the thinnest leather I have ever seen in my life! Of course it tore within a minute. Instead of buying this silly little piece of flimflam for $13, do yourself a favor and either buy a $5 spool of leather lacing or old fashioned leather boot laces. Not only are they cheap, but they'll last forever and are what chin traps used to be made from.No complaints with the hat from the same co. In fact the hat is downright awesome. Why they decided to cheap out with the chinstrap I'll never know.

I made it work
This is a review of Oztrala~Chin-Strap Kangaroo Leather Stampede String Australian Mens Cowboy Hat Chinstrap US. The toggle doesn't stay in place, so the toggle is worthless. In order to make this product work, I had to use two of them and tie them together along with taking the toggles off. Since I'm not using a toggle, I'm tying the string in a bow under my chin. I haven't worn my hat outside yet because the rain is keeping me inside. I bought three of these. I'm using 2 on my hat and I cut the third one in half and am using it on my Joe Boxer ankle boots as a boot lace for the top two eyes. The laces that came with my Joe Boxer boots kept coming undone, so I used those laces on the bottom two eyes and tied them in knots.

Best for the money
I’ve had the same piece stampede string leather on my knife as a lanyard, a knife that I use every day, and over a year later it still keeps me from losing my knife, and is thin enough to never be in the way. This leather is great for more than hat strings.

Weak leather, not functional
Made of thin latigo that easily breaks. The strap doesn't stay tight, so it's not functional. I added a plastic pinch bean to hold the strap tight and that works fine, but I could have just made my own strap from a bit of string and it would have been better. Do not bother buying this. The Oxtrala hat is fine but the strap is worthless.

A great way to customize a hat.
This strap was extremely easy to add to the hat. It helps overcome the challenge of wearing a light hat in windy conditions.
