It does work well for emitting the ultrasonic that deters the dogs from barking. I've got 2 kids under 5 in the home as well. Children crying or shouting or screaming as all children do also set the ultrasonic off. I had this mounted outside the back door since the back yard is face to an open space and the dogs bark at most passersby. The children's noises would set off the device even with the door closed to the back yard. Doggies were afraid to come near the back door area to come back in the house. However there was no barks. It didn't work out for us, but it may work out for you if you don't have kids in the home.

Ours worked for a couple weeks, and I decided to give it a bit more time, a few more barks. Always turned off unless I was expecting company, so battery's fine. It no longer works at all, according to my dog, and now I find that Amazon's usual 90-day return policy does not work for this item, which can be returned only within 30 days of purchase.I am increasingly disgusted with Amazon's policies and the increasingly reduced quality of items it sells! Will not be renewing Prime, and will definitely reduce my purchases!!! Also, prices are rising significantly and noticably. BAD DEAL!!!

This device worked initially, but after a few short weeks outside it died completely. Battery still had plenty of charge, but testing the device proved it had failed. Unsure if it was due to poor weatherproofing or something else, but I can't recommend it, especially at the ridiculous price that's being charged. Heads up - this device is smaller than the palm of your hand, and clearly cost less than a few dollars to make. Returned.

It seems like a good product, but the device takes for ever to charge and it broke. So I can't move the switch. The dog chewed on it also. I put it up and the plastic bit that should hang on the hooks broke off. Then the dog got it and really chewed on it. Then I tried to fix it and that did not go well. I can't return it and I feel like it is a waste of money. Because it is TINY and not water proof.

6 of 6 dogs totally ignored this. 4 of mine and 2 of my daughter's. They are standing in front of it and barking their doogie booties off. My neighbor, uh my deaf neighbor, is going to sue me. The only reason I gave one star was because the seller went through Amazon, Amazon is fantastic about returns. Apparently the seller of this product is fantastic about paying for reviews. I dont mean to sound bitter, I just really needed this to work for me.

Doesn't work in the least on my dogs. They couldn't care less about the sound, if they are able to hear it. I am able to hear the test beep and the light changes from green to red when my dogs bark. They really do not care and aren't phased by it at all.

This thing is so freaking cheap! And it is TINY, not like the pictures show at all. Maybe "2x3". I'll guarantee it'll be broken in a few weeks. Seriously, CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP! Worth about 5 bucks. China junk, don't waste your money!!!!!!UPDATE! Just as I suspected, the switch broke off within a week. Returned and refunded.

Device worked for 2 days, then had no effect on pooches because they got used to it. Turned item off for 3 days, then back on. Device still only works for 2 days, then off again.
