More than just Manchester
This is an entertaining, insightful and inspiring read. It is well researched with lots of different voices heard.I chose the book as an expat Mancunian who grew up there in the 1970-90’s. Prompted by the video to mark the 11th Anniversary of Tony’s passing and having watched 24hr PP, I was interested to understand. The book delivered more than that. Nolan’s telling of Tony’s story shows how culture is the beating heart of proud and dynamic cities. It’s also a case study in how personal belief and vision beats being right every day of the week.

Informative, warm, educational and made me cry a bit.
As a Salford lad who grew up around the house scene and Manchester's cultural and actual explosions I thought I knew quite a bit about Tony Wilson, turns out I didn't. This book is written in a warm yet often blunt way towards Wilson. It often reveals some tender moments and humanises him more than some of the other books. A pleasant surprise for me was seeing a former college of mine regularly quoted about his time working with Wilson at Granada.I read this from cover to cover on a train trip to London and was left a little emotional about his passing and also frustrated that since Wilson Manchester has never really had anyone who was truly connected into the city's veins.

So It Goes (again)!
If you were young and in Manchester in the 1970s & 80s, you need to read this to remind you of what you have forgotten, or to surprise yourself with what you never realised at the time. Even if you weren't, I challenge you not to be engaged by this lower middle class, Byronesque, Catholic grammar school boy made good.If you ever wondered why Manchester became such a fashionable place for students to choose in the 1990s, this man was in no small part responsibility.

Readable but not as enthralling as it should have been.
Any biography of Tony Wilson will always have something to interest you. I just felt the book was a bit lightweight and superficial and didn't really get under the skin of the man.

The late great Anthony H Wilson - a true tribute
This man was vastly under rated in the history of music in the UK. He was influential, passionate, charming and he put his money where his mouth was, usually open and pontificating. Without him, we wouldn't have had...and I'm amazed if you can't fill that in with one of your favourites.
