Another great book in the Osprey Series
Osprey has done a fine job in putting together a series of informative books on war. Their aviation series are a personal favorite of mine. These books contain much information, excellent photos and full color plates of the aircraft covered. A nice, clean, concise account of the subject matter. In this case it's the German Aces who flew the Pfalz Scouts in the Great War. Grey Vanwyngarten does a fine job (again) here. He knows his stuff, and is a dedicated buff of the First War in the Air. Just the Osprey books alone would fill a nice shelf in your library.

Exceptional History of these aircraft in combat
The Pfalz fighters and their pilots were always in the shadow of the more famous Fokker and Albatros. The author does a wonderful job documenting these little-known fighters given the relative lack of material available; there is new information here, including new photos and new color profiles, just what the excellent Osprey series is known for. This book is an excellent reference for enthusiasts, historians, and modelers, and is a must for anyone interested in Pfalz fighters or their operations.

interesting book, but thin, and expensive
This book is full of information, photos, and color drawings for modelersbut I thought it was thin, and expensive. The information is technicaland a little boring to read. It did help me realize the aircraft of world war one were Larger than I thought they were. A lot of the replicas thesedays are scaled down and not as large as the originals, unless they werebuilt from original plans.

I love this series
I really love this series of books. So much great information on the aircraft and the men who flew it. There is also a center section with color profiles of many of the pilots planes that I find very useful as a modeler.

Pfalz Scout Aces of World War 1
I gave this book stars because, although I was keen to buy and had read reviews, the actual material was a little disappointing. This should not reflect on the author, Mr Wyngarden is rightly famous for the quality of his research, but more for the fact that the Pfalz series of aircraft didn't achieve much. Despite it's racy and robust appearance the Pfalz was no better than the Albatross III and DV aircraft also in use. Mr Wyngarden points out that there is little evidence that any pilots achieved acedom in this aircraft even though many fighter pilots scored whilst using it.The book follows the normal format for the Osprey series with a technical description covering development and service life along with units using the type and their aces. As usual there are excellent colour illustrations that will be most useful for modellers and artists as well as some very good photographs. Whilst this is not the most popular book in the series I'm glad I bought it to add to my collection and would recommend it for the same reason for other enthusiasts.

Pretty little Pfalz
The Pfalz Dlll was one of the prettiest of World War 1 fighters. This book with its coloured illustrations will be invaluable to both artists and modellers.

Excellent reference
The 'usual' format from Osprey, meaning superb reference material. Also a great read for modellers and historians. Highly recommended to all.
