Works for the Roku 2!
House gnomes relocated my Roku 2 power cord and I needed a replacement. This USB charging cables works perfectly with my Roku 2 and actually works better than the regular power cord. I mounted my Roku on the wall behind the tv (IR receiver poking out a bit) with 3M stickies and plugged the cord into the USB slot in my tv. Cord is hidden behind the tv, so no additional cable management is required. Original power cord was not very long and we had mount the Roku visibly on the wall under the tv as the cord wasn't long enough and our tv is wall mounted. If your tv doesn't have a USB slot or it's being used by something else, any USB socket adapter will work. Quality of the cord seems to be very good; only time will tell though. So far, I love it and would definitely recommend as a replacement for any Roku it will fit instead of a regular power cord.

Simple but great product
I have one of these cables on each of two Roku 2's in my house. The Roku will not power off under normal use, it will only go into a sleep mode. I like that if I'm not watching TV for extended periods, the whole system is off and the Roku cools down. Takes a few seconds to power up each time (like 10 or 20 seconds), but not a big deal for me. Best of all, though, I really like not having to run another electrical cord to an outlet - this little 3' cord stays contained completely behind the TV, out of sight, out of mind.I should add, I've read some other reviews stating that it won't work with some TVs, esp older TVs. Both of ours are LG, and purchased in 2009, and it works like a charm.

Totally useless. I tried this in other products that I ...
The end that plugs into the box doesn't fit. It is surprising that a company, selling a product that is supposed to offer a simple solution would get it right. Totally useless. I tried this in other products that I own to see if this is just a one-off, but no - it doesn't fit any of them.Save you money.

Works very well
I received this cable yesterday as I was looking for an inexpensive solution to turn off the ROKU. This cable does the trick. When the TV is turned off, so does the ROKU. The cable could stand a bit longer cord length. For my needs and placement of the ROKU, the USB ports on the TV were away from the ROKU placement I prefer. I solved this by using a USB extension cable and it works perfectly.

How to turn a roku on and off without unplugging to keep it from overheating
Absolutely wonderful replacement for the ac adapter on a streaming media device that does not have an on and off switch. If one understands electronics then one knows that it is never a good Idea to keep the device perpetually on because it overheats. The overheating issue on rokus is why they added a loud, noisy and annoying fan on the roku 4. Almost all other streaming boxes, turn on and off. Why roku did this, is beyond me. Even in sleep mode it was over warm but after a few hours use, it was out and out hot, causing the box (roku 3) to crash occasionally. At first I used a remote control, wall socket, on and off switch. That worked very well, except many times at night after turning off the big screen, because I was sleepy, I would forget to grab that extra remote and turn the roku off, by morning it was almost to hot to touch. To make matters worse, if I was watching a streaming channel like, 'you tube', that automatically and endesly plays the next video and the next and the next and the next, it counts against your Internet usage so while one is sleeping one is using lots and lots of wasted gigabytes. This information is registered with your Internet provider. The major companies are now scrambling to make the same outrageous sums of money from all us cord cutters. ATT has already capped their so called unlimited high speed Internet at 600 gigs per month. I'm with Comcast, whom up to this point hasn't put a cap on their Internet service, which trust me will change soon. They already sent me a warning letter for high usage because of all those many, many nights with the TV off, my roku kept streaming and racking up lots of gig usage. The warning ⚠ letter stated that, in the previous 3 months I had used an average of 830 gigabytes and to guote them, 'this is by anyone's standards, exceedingly high', unquote. Then they offered their solution, which of course was more money for my service. That's when I found this great, not to forget, inexpensive (under 10 bucks on Amazon) USB replacement power cord. One end replaces the ac adapter and the other end plugs into a USB port on the back of my big screen. When the TV turns off the USB port turns off, which in turn turns off my roku. All I can say now is, 'perfect 👌'. Sincerely Arthur McBride

Did Not Provide Enough Power
The USB Cable for Powering Roku did provide power to my ROKU 3 unit, but it did not provide enough power to enable my remote control to operate the unit. I had to wait several minutes before the small module attached to the USB cable generated enough energy to power my ROKU 3 enough to recognize commands from the remote control. I can not recommend this unit for anyone who want to turn on their TV and use their ROKU device immediately. I returned the cable for a full refund.

Great device, but didn't meet requirement
I have a Panasonic Viera 3D TV that is five years old. When I tried using this device plugged into the USB port on the TV it displayed the following message on the screen: 'USB Power overload...unplug device from USB...power off / on'Power adapters are notorious for consuming power even though there is no device attached. My thought was to eliminate a power consuming device, but unfortunately, this device didn't meet that requirement. Minimal cost, worth the try, but now another gadget to store.
