Performacide Hard Surface Disinfectant is for use on hard, non-porous surfaces as a disinfectant, sanitizer, tuberculocide, virucide, fungicide, algaecide, slimicide and deodorizer. Performacide Hard Surface Disinfectant utilizes Chlorine Dioxide (ClO2) that is generated by adding a sealed pouch to a pre-determined amount of water that creates a 100 ppm solution. The solution can then be diluted for use as a sanitizer on both food contact surfaces and non-food contact surfaces.

It eventually killed rotting carcass odor
Ultimately, it worked, but it took my using all 3 packets in order to get the job done. Each of the first 2 packets I let soak 1.25-1.5 hours in the water prior to pouring into the smelly area of my pontoon. I gave 2 dousings in the smelly area for each of first 2 mixed packets. I let sit overnight to maximize however long the product is effective.Whatever mold or algae had gotten in to the hard-to-reach area of my pontoon smelled like or worse than a rotting carcass. The first soakings lessened the smell but I still couldn't store pontoon inside. The final packet was soaked for 12 hours in the water prior to dousing pontoon again. Not sure why it finally worked but it did and pontoon is stored in house again! Not sure if product was old, instructions not correct for when to begin to use product, but ultimately it did what it was supposed to...after 5 attempts!

Kills parvo
Love this product. I have real wood floors and tile worked great on both. I had a puppy with parvo which is why I purchased this item since I have two other dogs in my household. Its easy to use spray it and forget it.

Parvo beware!
This is by far the best product to use for parvo virus in the yard and inside the home! Not an easy virus to get rid of, but this product sure helps.

Great disinfectant flawed by packaging and price
This review is for the 32 ounce size, which is priced at about $17 as I write this review. Chlorine dioxide is a very effective virucide, fungicide, deodorizer, sanitizer, etc. I have been using chlorine dioxide sprays for years and much prefer them to bleach solutions, and other broad spectrum antimicrobials. But I have a couple of concerns about Performacide. My first problem is that a quart just doesn’t fit into my use patterns and the way this Performacide is mixed doesn’t allow for any flexibility. The instructions tell you not to open the pre-measured pouch. You just place the long, slim, sealed paper container into the spray bottle along with 32 ounces of water. Over the next hour, the sodium chlorite and other ingredients react to become chlorine dioxide. Once the chlorine dioxide is activated, the Performacide has to be used within 15 days. So, in planning your use of this product, you have to remember to allow an hour for the solution to activate and you have to remember to use it up within about two weeks. My need for a solution like this is either for a large amount (several gallons in the chicken coop) or for a very small amount (an ounce or so in the house cleaning up after the dog and cats). So the lack of flexibility in amount prepared and requirement to use it up within a couple of weeks don’t work for me.My second concern is about price, which I ordinarily would not mention. You can do price comparisons as well as I can and prices on Amazon change regularly anyway. But it was not easy for me to find a chlorine dioxide spray that could be activated in varying quantities and is reasonably priced, so I want to bring your attention to Oxine AH (available on Amazon, etc.). Just like Performacide, Oxine begins as sodium chlorite and gets activated into chlorine dioxide and diluted as your needs dictate. But Oxine is available in a gallon container that can be activated and diluted to produce the equivalent of 780 quarts of Performacide. All for the price of about two quarts of Performacide. If you have a big project, or smaller projects that must be done periodically, the Oxine creates quite a savings.I like both products, although I prefer a multi-gallon sprayer with an easily activated wand rather than a hand-tiring trigger sprayer like Performacide provides. And both products require a great deal of caution in their use. Note that Performacide warns on the side of the bottle, among other things, that “This product is not to be used in households or anywhere young children may be present.” Finally, it’s essential to familiarize yourself with the OSHA and NIOSH standards for using the products.

a persistent unpleasant odor
We just returned from the house rented, hopefully, for the last time before it goes on the market. The renters were cat lovers and, either they rarely let their pets out or the pets, by choice, used the floor space of the house as a personal litter box. Urine traces in one of the upstairs bedrooms had soaked through the corner of the carpet down to the padding and eaten into the subfloor, all of which had to be removed, a new sub floor laid and painted with a primer before installing padding and a new carpet. On the lower floor, near the laundry room and garage entrance off the central area and bedrooms and bathrooms, an odor lingered. During repeated trips to the property we applied various floor treatments from pet stores to homemade concoctions online and suggestions from sympathetic listeners who heard our complaint. We changed the ac system and used deodorizers with the filter. At this juncture, tradespeople, including a professional floor cleaner, and friends have assured us they aren’t smelling an odor. But once you get a whiff of something like that, and spend thousands of dollars, conscious of the first stench, the ghosts of cats trapped inside a closed space will haunt you.Performacide was our last application of an odor remover. In all fairness, this product is for non-porous surfaces in primarily institutional environments such as hospitals. Stone floors probably are categorized as non-porous, though, had cat urine permeated the tiles, not just, as we suspected, the grout, we hoped what we had previously used as well permeated the stone. For a more accurate account, the product should be used on recently soiled areas.
