The light fixtures are well built, or I'd have gone for a 1-star review. Fixtures are indeed sturdy, which means heavy, which means they need a yoke design to hold them on the stand. They are too heavy to be supported on an angle with 1-point of support. Maybe if the ball-joint device that goes on top of the light stand was more beefy it would solve their problem. The supplied ball devices can't and don't support the weight. The stands aren't sturdy either,when compared to Monfrottos and Paul Bluff's I've bought over the years. Nor do they go high enough. On my first shoot I had to substitute an old stand in my office that would reach higher than the roll of backdrop paper behind my stand-up talent. The case is too big for the lights, but not big enough to hold the stands, which go in another case. Poor design. Worst part is the battery charger. I'm not sure how a manufacturer can screw up the most simple part of a kit, but they managed. The batteries are hard to put on, even harder to take off. If you are determined to buy Ikan's, don't go for the kit and assemble the components individually. If you are not set on Ikan's, look for a design that uses a yoke to support the fixtures.
