Pellets perfect pellet bird is for students dissect to find perfect replica skeletons of the barn owl’s favorite meals. The prey's unique bone structures make perfect pellets ideal for comparative anatomy investigations. Sanitary and consistent, prefect pellets eliminate the "eww" factor, pest concerns and guesswork from owl pellet investigations. Synthetic pellets each contain a complete bird skeleton replica, but won't harbor insects or disease. No baking, no fuss and no disappointment or confusion with partial remains. Instead, you and your students can focus on understanding owls and the biology of their prey. Pellets measure 2-1/2-inches - 3-1/2-inches each. Warning: Chocking Hazard - Small Parts. Not for children under 3 years.

Perfect Pellets not so perfect
These pellets are a very nice gift for bird lovers but not very realistic. The "fur" is similar to dryer lint and the bones are plastic. All of the bones are just wrapped in the middle and there's really no "dissecting " to it. All you need to do is unwrap the fur and they're all piled in the middle. The picture shows the bones mixed in the fur. I give this 3 stars because the plastic bones are pretty cool, especially the bird skull.

Perfect sanitary option
I have used these two years in a row in a first/second grade combo class. They work well to illustrate the substance of owl pellets, providing a fur element and plastic bones. I took a poll this last time and more than half of my students said they were happy the pellets were fake, so they work well for young children (and their parents).

These are really nothing like an owl pellet
These are really nothing like an owl pellet. The "fur" is like dryer lint and the plastic bones are all in the middle of the bundle, not mixed around in the "fur" as shown in the photo. However, this is the best solution I can find for the differentiation needed for my few blind students in my special education science class who can't see well enough to pick out the tiny individual bones normal owl pellets have. They also don't seem to be reusable since the "fur" doesn't mesh back together well after opening.

Terrible product.
Terrible product. Way better to get a real owl pellet. This synthetic pellet was like wool barely wrapped around plastic fossil -no challenge or excitement in finding anything - and the bones were warped and hard to place together. It was very frustrating for the kids.
