Brand Storytelling: Put Customers at the Heart of Your Brand Story

A Practical Guide for the Modern Marketer
The secret of good writing is stripping every sentence to the cleanest components. Typically, when reading business books, I tune out due to the fluff and self-indulgent embellishments that authors use to fill the pages. Miri did no such thing. This is a practical guide to modern storytelling applicable to any industry - mostly showcasing examples from major brands and technology companies. Miri's personal stories were observant and original. She touched on timely subjects such as redesigned integrated marketing and immersive experiences. Highly recommend for anyone.P.S. I read some of the reviews regarding her use of extensive vocabulary / jargon and, contrary to those reviews, I found it refreshing. I even looked up a few words to broaden my own vocabulary. I would prefer a dense read by a leading industry expert over an easy read any day.

self improvement is key - lead with kindess and empathy
This book is so beautifully written. There is heart, guidance, self improvement (personally and professionally). The writing style is like you are sitting with a friend hearing her life story but in a way where you both leave laughing, crying and better for the time spend together. I would recommend this book for all. Even if you don't want to be the story teller, we all need to learn how to pitch a belief, theory, new idea or concept. This book shows all the different writing styles and methods to make your story land. I highly recommend. Enjoy, I did.

An essential guide for ANY industry!
I absolutely devoured this book! I love how Miri emphasizes the importance of empathy and finding a universal truth, which allows you to relate to anyone. I also love how she explains 8 different story structures! You get way more than just one rinse and repeat option. This book has been my go-to guide as I am working on re-branding myself after losing my job during COVID. I love how no matter who you, where you are in life, or what your current job is, there is VERY valuable information for everyone. Growth is the key to success, and this book will is the roadmap!

Look elsewhere.
A book about storytelling needs to be written better.Brand Storytelling is tedious, jargon heavy, and stuffs dozens of superfluous words on each page. Maybe this passes for good writing in the kind of corporate environments this book is geared towards? It doesn't work on a general-audiences nonfiction level though. The author drives some minor points into the ground and breezes past others without contextualizing them, giving the impression that no matter how deep her understanding of the subject, she can't really explain it. The whole thing is also just really, really sloppy. In one early chapter, a sentence about "four pillars" is repeated, word for word, with one paragraph between the duplicated sentence that describes an entirely different set of five pillars. I'm honestly a little shocked that passages like this, along with the book's other usage and style issues, made it past an editor.Someone who works in an enterprise-level business and is used to decoding bad business writing may have a better time muddling through this. But most folks will do better by adding a Writing 101 type of book to their stack of branding/marketing reads.

A drag
I'm barely halfway through and it's been a drag honestly. I do not appreciate the writer's constant need to drop vocab bombs. Leave those big words for novels. I'm here to learn about Branding and I would devour it if it was served more succinctly. I mean if you can communicate the same message with two lines, why write with seven?! Stop wasting the reader's time. With regards to the content, I would have loved more examples of types of brand stories.

Good but could have been very good
Whilst I enjoyed the first half of the book - there were some interesting concepts on brand development. Unfortunately, like most business books, there was a fair amount of padding and repetition in the second half. The author needs to give a little less reference to Microsoft and the ever-increasing vague concepts on story creation mixed with obscure jargon. The biggest failing of this book is that it is primarily about Brand Story Telling yet, not once are we given a real life example of storytelling. It would seem to be a significant omission.
